google_product_category values cannot be changed or added to by merchants;

google does tend to read the community forum posts for potential future changes.

(a) google_product_category is not required except
for apparel, apparel accessories, and media items --
otherwise, the attribute is simply recommended.

(b) if google_product_category is used then,
an exact google-defined value is required --
but google does not require an exact fit to
the physical item.

(c) product_type is designed for merchants to submit their own taxonomy.

so, either submit google_product_category with the closest high-level

google-defined value that best categorizes the physical product --

for example, based on the physical item or aisle in a store where

the items might be located.

or, simply do not submit any google_product_category, at all --
only apparel and media items require google_product_category.

regardless, product_type may be submitted with proper

> breadcrumbs -- and just about any value you wish.
