ecomm_prodid not matching id in merchant center

Hello,

I am trying to implement dynamic remarketing through analytics. I am using GTM for woocommerce and I think I configured everything necessary for the campaign to run. However there is a message in adwords saying "The tag is active but we found some issues with your custom parameters." and more precisely "Values for "ecomm_prodid" should match item identifiers in your Merchant Center feed."

Do you know where I shall look for the problem? Could it be an issue in merchant center feed or in GTM? I am using a plugin for merchant center to export the online shop, but the feed looks fine.

Thanks in advance!

(a) be certain that the item has a current searchable status;
(b) be certain that each id value is unique among all items;
(c) be certain each id value is plain alphanumeric text (e.g. abc123us);
(d) be certain that ecomm_prodid is only on product-pages (or cart pages);
(e) be certain that ecomm_prodid exists only once on the page;

otherwise, the best likely course is to contact a support specialist to
look into the submitted data, accounts, site, and back-end systems --
to verify all id values in the submitted data, the data has processed
properly in the account, all account details are properly configured,

the appropriate tags are implemented properly,  and the back-end

systems are looking for the appropriate tags.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. Actually, we have a shopping campaign which works, so it's really weird that in remarketing we see this message. The shopping campaign doesn't have much impressions, though and we only have part of our products active in the feed (still, those are the main products). Is it possible that the plugin we use to create the feed is not good and causes a problem? Which support is it better to contact: Adwords or Merchant center?

Thanks!

first, you're welcome

having a working shopping-campaign likely eliminates only parts of (a) and (c) --
and almost none of (b) (c) and (d) for all other items -- in the above, original,
list of potential issues.

unless only part of physical inventory is wanted then,
there is likely also an issue with the feed; regardless of,
but possibly related to, the ecomm_prodid issues.

the best likely places to start are, looking directly into the website
pages and submitted (feed) data and first contacting whoever is
supporting the website, woocommerce-support, the woocommerce
help forums, whoever is currently supporting that specific plug-in,
and a support-specialist at google.

regardless of who within google is contacted, simply be certain to
emphasize, early on, that the issues relate to product-listing-ads --
and specifically to a (merchant-center retail product data) feed and

dynamic-remarketing on the website, before explaining any details.

It's really important that the values you pass to via the ecomm_prodid parameter to the remarketing tag match the product ids in your Google Merchant Center feed.
There are 2 ways to investigate that:
- In AdWords where you probably saw that error message (Shared Library > Audiences > Tag details). There's a list of top 10 ecomm_prodid values from the tag and wether they match your feed. You can even download the top 500
- Via the Google Tag Assistant Chrome extension: https://developers.google.com/adwords-remarketing-tag/verification#tagassistant

Hi,

I've checked the points you mention and they seem to be fine: only thing I am not sure is correct is that the product ID appears twice on a product page (once next to the ecomm_prodid variable and then next to the ID that comes by default). Another issue is that on the thank you page, there is no ecomm_pagetype and therefore I can't get the list of purchasers. I am using GTM for wordpress, I suppose this issue comes from there.

Do you know any good plugin for woocommerce that could create a decent feed?

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I checked both: the top 10 products that according to google are not in the product feed, ARE indeed in the product feed and are also available in the shopping campaign... In Tag assistant it looks fine too... No idea why adwords doesn't recodnise them. Do you have any other suggestions on what to check?

Thanks!

I am having this same issue. Were you ever able to resolve it?
