ecomm_prodid not matching id in merchant center, while they do match

Hi,

I have several feeds in Merchant center for different countries and languages.

I see the following error in Adwords:

The value of the "ecomm_prodid" parameter being passed to the remarketing tag is incorrect. Your tag's "ecomm_prodid" value needs to match either the "id" or "item_group_id" of the product in the connected Google Merchant Center account.

Checking Merchant center, I can actually confirm that they DO match.

As a side note, in Merchant center all feeds and products imported successfully and no errors are detected.

The IDs are the same accross each country/language feed, as indicated here:

https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112?hl=en

  • Use the same ID for the same product - across countries or languages

This means I have the following structure:

feed_UK

productid1

feed_FR

productid1

feed_DE

productid1

Any advice would be kindly appreciated.

That error is in reference to the remarketing code.

Check that the product id is the same in the data feed and on the product landing page, inside your remarketing code.

You can check by using chrome tag assistant to check the id : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tag-assistant-by-google/kejbdjndbnbjgmefkgdddjlbokphdefk?h...

hope it helps

Thank you for your reply Emmanuel.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean.

I am not using the Adwords remarketing tag, instead I am using the Analytics tag through Google Tag Manager with "advertising and reporting feature" enabled.

When I open product with ID 16 in the browser, I see:

dataLayer: ecomm_prodid -> 16

Analytics collect query data: pr1id->16 and cd1->16 (custom dimension)

Anything else I should check?

I recommend to use Adwords remarketing tag with all the correct variables. Instead of using Google Tag Manager.

I have had other clients getting this issue, the easiest and quickest method is to use Google Adwords tracking code.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your reply Emmanuel.

A question though..

If using the Adwords remarketing that, does that mean that I won't be able to use GAnalytics remarketing lists at all? For example, users who have been on the site for more than 2min.

You can, simply ensure that your coding for Analytics is correct. I recommend asking this question in the Analytics forum https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Google-Analytics/ct-p/Google_Analytics

Or maybe another forum member will know the answer in more detail.
