Your account has a limit for number of products in merchant center
I am getting a message when uploading our feed to the merchant center that we have reached our limit as to the number of products allowed. We just introduced the item_group_id field to our feed, and instead of google considering these variations of the same product (which is the proper way of doing so) they are being considered as all unique products throwing us over our allowed number of products. I have attempted to contact google to resolve this (by email, phone, etc) however I have yet to receive a response for over 3 weeks now to address this. Anyone got a way up their sleeve to resolve this?

first, be certain that an item_group_id value
is not being added to any item that is not a
valid variant or a valid variant that contains
only one item in the variant-group.
also, be certain that variant items in a group
all contain the exact same item_group_id value
and at least one valid variant attribute with a
unique value for all items in the variant-group,
are being submitted.
also, be certain that only physical item-offers are being submitted
and items submitted as in stock are currently in the merchant's
physical on-hand inventory -- especially with respect to variants;
for example, parent-items that represent a group are not allowed.
otherwise, google does not require submitting all items in inventory --
for example, consider submitting only a subset of physical inventory,
such as only variants that perform well or only item-offers that have a
relatively high margin to warrant a shopping-ad.
otherwise, this is mainly a peer-to-peer forum --
forum-members cannot look into any account
or any submitted data; only a person at google
may increase the limit, on a case-by-case basis;
google usually requires a use-case with some
details as to why the limit needs to be increased.
in some cases, google may decide not to increase the limit;
in that case, the total inventory simply needs to be decreased --
assuming the variant details are all being submitted properly.
when contacting google, indicating early-on, that the
issue relates to shopping-ads and the merchant-center
sometimes helps; also, trying an alternative contact
method may help -- among phone, chat, or email.
