What to do if product does not have UPC, MPN or GTIN?

I'm trying to get a sporting goods product setup in the merchant center. This is a new product that is manufactured locally and does not have a UPC, MPN or GTIN.

Is there a work-around?

Thanks!

simply submit an identifier_exists
attribute with a value of FALSE
for all such items.

then, do no submit any gtin, mpn, or brand
values for the item -- leave the values empty.

if all items have an identifier_exists of FALSE then,

the mpn, brand, and gtin attributes may be removed
altogether from the submitted data (feed).

as an aside, there is no such attribute as upc;
gtin accepts a valid upc, ean, isbn, or jan value
that has been assigned by the manufacturer --

merchants cannot self-assign global-trade-data (mpn, brand, gtin).

if valid global-trade-data exists then valid
global-trade-data must be submitted --
regardless of the item's age or condition;

otherwise, the item cannot be submitted.

if valid global-trade-data does not exist
then simply leave all global-trade-data
(brand, gtin, mpn) entirely empty for
the item.

if valid global-trade-data does not exist
for all items in the feed then, all related
attributes (mpn, gtin, brand) may be
deleted altogether.

as to the identifier_exists attribute --

if identifier_exists is FALSE then
gtin, mpn, and brand should
not be submitted for that item.

for a tab-delimited feed simply
name one column (heading):
identifier_exists
and use a value of FALSE or TRUE for
the item row (cell) where appropriate.

for an xml feed (and only an xml feed) use either:
<g:identifier_exists>FALSE</g:identifier_exists>
or
<g:identifier_exists>TRUE</g:identifier_exists>

if the api is being used, then consult the developer of the code.

I am trying to list a used wooden roll top bread box on ecrater it keeps telling me to give one of these upc/ean/jan  and it shows an error if i do not.But it does not have one.

I put the name of the item and the size? What do I use?

and another one is a doggie outfit that i have added brand, color and size but am getting this little red !

the best likely course would be to contact ecrater support directly.

if the roll-top-box had valid global-trade-data during the time
it was sold then valid global-trade-data must be submitted --
regardless of being used or not.

if the item never had valid global-trade-data then,
ecrater would need to support the identifier_exists
attribute with a value of FALSE

however, the best likely course for any issues related
to submitting items via ecrater would be to contact
ecrater marketplace support directly -- or possibly
post in the official ecrater support forums.

I am a Motorola Solutions sales partner. I have MPN and Brand on all our products. I have been trying to get GTIN from Motorola for 2 months since the first notice that we received saying this is a new requirement. Motorola has consistently stated that they do not have these numbers. In fact when we give them the numbers shown as GTIN that we can find listed within shopping, they say the only way they see them associated with their products is to do a google search which returns the companies that put this info in google shopping. Throughout all of Motorola's system they have no record of these numbers. I just got of the phone with Motorola parts ID and again they said no go.

Because of this I have taken GTIN that I can only find through google shopping and added it to the products that have it which is only a small fraction of the parts that show up in shopping. To this end we marked all the products that we do not have GTIN for as FALSE. Of course all of them failed in the feed.

So am I now to understand that I need to remove all the mpn, brand, and gtn fields completely from my .txt file of items that have FALSE when I submit to get them approved?

if the product is new and the brand is on the designated-brands list then,
the updated policies require that both a valid gtin and a brand value are
both submitted -- motorola falls into that category.

first, try checking the directly on the product itself or the product-package --
a valid gtin should be under the bar-code that is stamped at the factory.

if the product is used or part of an existing item
then, submit a condition value of used for that
item with an identifier_exists value of FALSE --
and do not submit any gtin, mpn, or brand, values
whatsoever, for that item (leave the values empty).

FALSE is *never* a valid value for gtin --
gtin must be either be the valid gtin digits
below the bar-code or, not submitted at all.

for a tab-delimited .txt feed file --
mpn, gtin, brand, must be either exactly accurate
or blank (completely empty) -- depending on the
brand or type of item -- but never TRUE or FALSE.

TRUE or FALSE are valid values for the identifier_exists attribute --
these are *never* valid values for any of the global-trade-data attributes.

for a .txt tab-delimited feed (file) FALSE (or TRUE) may only be used
as a value for the identifier_exists attribute -- never for any of the
global-trade-data (mpn, brand, gtin) attributes.

otherwise, the item simply cannot be submitted as a product-listing-ad --
however, there are other campaign-types and ad-formats that are available
and might be a better fit for advertising such items.

submitting inaccurate or invalid global-trade-data is a policy violation

and grounds for a disapproval or suspension, at any time -- potential

policy violations by other merchants may be reported to google.

as an aside, the option to remove the brand, mpn, and gtin fields completely
was *only* if all items had an identifier_exists value of FALSE -- since, in
that particular, specific, case there would be no global-trade-data submitted.
