Value too long in attribute: id - Should I change IDs?

Hi folks, we have 284 warnings for product IDs over 50 characters, should I leave it or change the IDs, its not clear whether these products are not listed or whether they just have a warning?

It would be difficult to change these IDs without changing all IDs which I know is not recommended.

What should we do?

TIA Andy

HI Andy,

When you log into the Merchant Center go to the dashboard and see if it messages how many products are inserted.

i.e. 70 of 100 items inserted (View errors)

If you see not all items are inserted it may tell you that those products with the character issue are not being served in shopping results.

Let us know what you see.

PS this Help Center documentation may (or may not Smiley Wink help

it says.....

Most attributes now have clearly outlined character limits, which will help to display product information in the most effective way. Attribute submissions that exceed the character limit might result in offer disapprovals.

all such warnings must be fixed.

google is displaying the warnings now,

so that there is lead-time for fixing the

issues before the september deadline --

when all such warnings will turn to errors.

of course, changing any attribute -- but especially id --

usually requires google to reevaluate the item and the

item's performance in the auctions.

if there are a very large number of items that are over the

new character limits then, changing the items in batches,
over a few weeks time (within the same feed), before the

september deadline, may help -- by allowing more time

for the system to efficiently reevaluate the items.

for id, be certain that any new values have never been used before --

and are not currently being used -- for any item -- in any data-feed.
