(1) turn on auto-tagging within adwords --
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1752125

(2) link adwords to analytics --

also, before turning-on auto-tagging be certain that the web-server

being used can handle random url parameters being added to links --

a very few web-servers will break if auto-tagging is enabled.

Agree with Celebird.

Enable Auto tagging on Google adwords and link Google adwords with Google Analytics. In your Google analytics report, you can find there traffic details from organic and CPC.

Thanks

Thanks for your help.

What if I use a different tool. I also use Webtrekk (a German Tool), how can I recognize the right traffic channel? Or if I want to code my own tool.

Thanks

Hi Martin,

I'm not familiar with Webtrekk but I bet that they have parameters you can append to your destination URLs. I would suggest reaching out to a Webtrekk rep to find out more about their parameters. If you can tell us what their parameter structure looks like, we can help you implement it.

In the meantime, I would definitely recommend setting up Google Analytics as Virendra and Celebird have said. It's free and you can use it in conjunction with other web analytics platforms. When you use two web analytics platforms, they typically track things differently and therefore their numbers will never completely match but at least you will have a second opinion so to speak.

Do you have conversions enabled in AdWords? This can also help you to get a feel for how many visits and sales are coming from PLAs although it won't tell you exactly how much was spent. Again, though, be aware that AdWords tracks visits and conversions different from Google Analytics and likely different from Webtrekk, so it will give you a feel for how much traffic that you received from paid sources but it's not as simple as subtracting AdWords numbers from your overall site traffic as provided by your web analytics platform.

Hope this helps!
