Tracking visits/transactions from Shopping Ads

Hello there,

I have a client with a Merchant Center set up (unfortunately I don't have access to that). He has it linked somehow with AdWords account and is running Shopping Ads. The AdWords account is linked with Google Analytics and uses automatic tracking (gclid). However when I look at some of those Shopping ads live, they direct to a URL with manual tracking (utm parameters) and when I click the ad, it directs me to the right page, however with no tracking parameters, only with a "jsessionid" parameter. This visit then results in being counted as a non-paid visit from Google.

What is the jsessionid please and what should I do to fix this issue?

Thank you in advance for any help. Kind regards,

Hello @Ondřej H

I would try these options:

1) Check if manual parameters are disabled in Analytics

2) Use the Chrome Developer Tools to help you troubleshoot. More information here:

3) Use custom tracking template on Shopping campaign level. Example: {lpurl}?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping

I hope one of these options will help you.

Best regards,
