Switch from delimited feed file to XML - correct process?

Would like to update a customer from tab delimited .txt. file to an .xml feed file. The product feed has expired (it was only manually run one time). Should I delete that feed and start fresh - or - if I send the new file with the same feed name and .xml extension, will it be picked up as the same feed? Thanks in advance for any help!

simply be certain that the id values, for the
physical inventory items, are identical between
the two feeds.

also, be certain that any feed changes do not
effect any shopping-campaign product-groups --
verify that items still match a product-group
and are assigned a bid.

a best-practice is to delete the first .txt data-feed --
simply register, prepare, and test, the .xml feed-file
well in advance of deleting the registered .txt feed.

deleting any feed will remove the associated items from being listed.

there is no formal requirement to delete the first .txt data-feed --
but if not, be certain that any associated scheduled-fetch or any
automated (ftp) uploads have been properly paused (stopped).

scheduled-fetch is per the registered feed name and set url;
sending a feed via ftp must match the registered feed name;
e.g. uk-inventory.xml
