Suggestion of new taxonomy categories?

Is there anyway of requesting Google to add a particular product category that is missing from their taxonomy list? The item we have in our store does not fit particularly well into any of the existing category options?

Thanks!

google reads the forums and there is a was-this-article-helpful link on
most merchant-center help-article pages to leave more specific feedback.

the taxonomy-feedback form was retired quite awhile ago.

generally, there is little need to update the taxonomy since the
physical item only needs to fall under a very general, top-level,
google_product_category and the product_type attribute is designed
to submit a private hierarchy, with a more exact taxonomy value.

both values are designed to simply help google categorize

the physical item and to help create more effective, precise,

hierarchical, bidding strategies within the shopping-campaign.

posting a specific url to the item, here within the public forum,
may also allow forum-members to offer specific suggestions.

Thanks for your response to my question.

It's basically a craft tape that is used when you scrapbook or papercraft. I think I know what category I will put it under. I just wanted to check.

first, you're welcome.

for google_product_category likely either:
Arts & Entertainment > Hobbies & Creative Arts > Arts & Crafts > Art & Crafting Materials > Crafting Adhesives & Magnets > Decorative Tape
or
Arts & Entertainment > Hobbies & Creative Arts > Arts & Crafts
or
Office Supplies

for product_type any value that categorizes the physical item
or a taxonomy that might currently exist on the website -- and
might help create more effective long-term bidding strategies

is likely best; e.g.
Crafts > Scrapbooking > Adhesives > Decorative > Craft Tape
or
Crafts > Crafting > Craft Supplies > Adhesives > Decorative > Craft Tape

e.g. bidding higher or lower on all decorative vs utilitarian, supplies --
Crafts > Scrapbooking > Adhesives > Mounting > Craft Tape
Crafts > Crafting > Craft Supplies > Adhesives > Mounting > Craft Tape

but if a category has already been decided upon, that's fine.
