Should 'item_group_id' values show in my Raw Feed Attributes in Merchant Center?

Hi, I'm trying to diagnose why 'Item Group ID' variants aren't working for me.

I've confirmed that I have a suitable entry for <g.item_group_id> in my feed, but when I check a product listing in Merchant Center and I drill into the product details, to the 'Raw Feed Attributes' I don't see any mention of Item_Group_ID

Is this to be expected or is it a sign I've done something wrong?

thanks,

James

first, you're welcome.

assuming a google-xml feed and not tab-delimited, submit exactly:

<g:item_group_id>heresmygroupid</g:item_group_id>

if that works, then consider adding back only the cdata --

however, do not mix cdata with any escape characters,

such as & or google will not be able to process that

construct, also.

based on the posted example, there looks to be a g.

defining the google g namespace, rather than the g:

no; that should not be expected behavior.

item_group_id should normally show under the products-list-tab,
after clicking on an item's title -- the attribute and value pair should
show under both the final-attributes and raw-feed-attributes areas.

usually, for display purposes, google shows the data as:
google product category Toys & Games > Toys > Educational Toys
item group id                         gid007

if not, typically there is some issue with how the data was created,
or there was a feed-rule, or supplemental-feed (rule), that caused the
data not to be submitted, or not to be properly processed by google.

be certain the attribute submitted is exactly

item_group_id

for a google-xml file:

<g:item_group_id>gid007</g:item_group_id>

generally, submit only raw (ascii) text with

characters seen on a typical keyboard --

no html, css, special-characters, or similar;

use a simple mix of letters and numbers; e.g.

gid123

also, be certain there is only one, single, primary-feed,

registered with google, for the target-country -- the one,

single, feed can handle about 100,000 inventory items;

never delete the one registered feed.

also, be certain only one method is being used for re-uploads --

such as either a scheduled-fetch or ftp; multiple methods may

sometimes cause issues, depending how the data creation and

the re-submits are being coordinated.

if the api was being used, check the raw return-requests from google;
if a google-sheet was being used, check the raw sheet and processing-tab;
if a .txt tab-delimited, or google .xml file, data-feed was used, then use
the download-file option to inspect the raw data being sent to google,
and check the processing-tab.

for a google-xml file, be certain not to mix

xml-escape-characters with cdata -- use

only one escape mechanism.

if another format was submitted, such as csv --
then, importantly, google does not officially
support any other formats, such as csv, and
such feed-files should not be submitted to
google, at all.

Should 'item_group_id' values show in my Raw Feed Attributes in Merchant Center?

Thanks Celebird Smiley Happy

I have removed spaces and converted to lowercase so this value is now as simple as it can be, but despite seeing other new changes in the merchant center product list (so I know the data feed is being processed and updated) I still don't see any value for Item Group ID.

I've re-downloaded the xml feed from merchant center and can confirm that it's being included like so. (all my data feed items are wrapped in <![CDATA[]]> and all others work fine)

<g.item_group_id><![CDATA[heresmygroupid]]></g.item_group_id>

But still no luck.
