Shopping search results jumping from UK to USA - bug?

One of my clients contacted me to point out that while their products are listed correctly in Google Shopping they're not listed as a seller.  They were referring to the list of sellers that appears on the left hand side of all shopping search results pages.

I checked their shopping campaigns in Adwords and couldn't spot anything wrong.  Impressions and clicks were on the 'journey' we thought they were.

So I tried a product search and yes, their products were showing up as they should in the sponsored / shopping box that appears top right of the standard search page.  So I clicked the 'Shopping' tab and checked the 'sellers' list and just as they told me, they were not listed as a seller.

I scratched my head for a while then I noticed something really strange...

I'm in the UK and so is my client, so I did the product search quite naturally on Google.co.uk and on the 'web' tab I could see my client's results, in   But when I clicked the 'Shopping' tab the results were all in dollars.  My client only sells in Europe so I wouldn't expect them to be listed as a seller in dollar results.  I had some friends elsewhere in the UK try similar searches and they also experienced this 'flip' from Pounds to Dollars.  Removing the 'com' in the address bar and replacing it with 'co.uk' brings up the correct shopping results in UK sterling.

Surely this must be a bug?  In fact if this keeps happening surely Google is losing income because it will be forcing relevant clicks and conversions down?

The frustration is that this isn't happening for all searches, just some of them.

Hi @Andrew L not a new phenomenon, I'm afraid, it's been happening for a long time (see below):

and nothing seems to be changing.

The only (slight) good news is that I believe the problem is relatively limited, so may be having less effect on your client's Account than it might seem.  I would, however, suggest that you (and everyone else seeing this problem), use this form to report the problem.

Thank you Jon.

I tested several of my client's product searches and yes, it doesn't affect them all!

I have reported the issue, thanks for that link.
