Shopping Campaigns Layering
Quick question regarding Shopping Campaigns. I understand how the layering works in the new Google Shopping Campaigns in terms of how you set the layers up. Can someone explain, in very simple terms, why I would want to set different layers up? Is it purely to enable me to segment my bidding so I can bid different amounts for different items??

That's exactly it.
It's not just product specific bidding though.
You can set up custom labels and bid by that segment.
For example, for our clients, we divide all their products up into high, medium and low margin products. We can then bid higher for the higher margin products.
You can also do things like add promotional fields and bid based on those.
