Re-indexing website after redesign

Hello,

I work for a university alumni association, and we launched a new version of our website earlier this month. The domain name remains the same as before. Unfortunately, when people Google us, a bunch of links from the old version pop up at the top and they are all broken links.

I've heard of the term re-indexing, but I have no idea how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.
