You can exclude an item ID by click on the max cpc of the item and selecting exclude.

Thanks for the reply. Problem is, I can't locate the screen which displays individual items. Campaign > Ad Group > Product Group view only shown the sub-divisions I created and not the individual items. And Campaign > Ad Group > Products view displays a list of products but nowhere can I click on the Max cpc to edit.

It's located in Campaign > Ad Group > All Products > your subdivision > your item id.

 

To get the item id you do need to list them first, by click on the plus button than selecting item id from the drop down and add all product id's.
