Questions about product feed

My products are now showing up in Google Shopping but I'd like to tweak them. My actual listing is right under the first one.

  • How do I get my product listed in this first group? Do I need to change the product name to match?
  • Where is the text "Herbal Supplement A perfect blend of three..." coming from?
  • If I manually change the product name to match in my feed file, and my feed file is set to update automatically, will it override the manual changes I make?

generally, the gtin submitted should be the
bar-code's digits printed on the package --
http://www.gs1.org/barcodes/technical/bar_code_types

the brand should the brand of the product
as assigned by the brand-manufacturer to
the exact item being sold; merchants cannot
change or self-assign a valid brand or any
other valid global-trade-data values.

be certain to use plain text for the submitted data --
do not use html or any other formatting or symbols.

if the data is still not accepted, google should
likely be contacted so that a person at google
can look directly into the feed and account.

if the disapproval is for health related items
then a person at google may need to review
the specific product, feed, merchant, or website.

(1) google tends to group items by accurate and valid

global-trade-data (brand, mpn, gtin) as assigned by the

manufacturer to the exact item being submitted and sold --

however, google's groupings cannot be forced by merchants.

https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/160161

(2) google may use group information from a wide variety

of sources such as the brand-manufacturer -- google

decides all format and display of grouped information.

(3) yes.

simply submit accurate and valid information for the physical

item and use the currently registered feed for any updates --

including changes, additions, or deletes.

Thanks, that got me started. So on this page (https://www.google.com/shopping/product/1350055945903957680/specs?q=organic+india+amalaki&sa=X&ei=uI... where are the directions, serving size, servings per container etc coming from? Perhaps another merchant added these as custom fields?

first, you're welcome.

there are no such google-defined attributes.

such data typically is derived from manufacturer data-sheets
based on the global-trade-data submitted (gtin, mpn. brand) --
generally, google has many sources of data other than feeds

and has not offered any instructions on such group details.

such data may be added to the item's description if you wish;
if so, be certain the data submitted is plain text, not formatted.

I'm impressed that you were able to get your feed accepted. I can't get my feed accepted. Just tells me every item is invalid but doesn't tell me what the error is.

Celebird, I also sell dietary supplements. have a similar issue. Mine is also with "product identifiers". Here is the copy of my email I sent to the tech team:

Within our merchant account in the 'Data Quality' tab, we'll see is something like this:

Now Foods Thyroid Energy- 90 Vcaps

Now Foods,733739033680

Disapproval in 26 days

What that seems like to us is that we should removed the brand name from the product title and just rename it: Thyroid Energy 90 Vcaps?
The brand is correct in that 'brand' field of our file as is the UPC seen above. We name that field 'mpn' in our feed.

Over 25% of our products are being flagged with that issue and we want to quickly make adjustments before that 26 days is up.

if the disapproval is for the physical item
being sold -- or its inherent ingredients --
violating the policies then no amount of
changes to the feed will affect the outcome.

as to brand -- any global-trade-data (brand, mpn, gtin)
that is submitted must be assigned by the manufacturer
and must be submitted exactly as assigned; merchants
cannot change and cannot self-assign global-trade-data.

the proper attribute for upc is gtin -- upc has been retired;
upc cannot be used for mpn; mpn is a completely different
attribute and value.

generally, if a valid gtin and brand is submitted then
mpn can be left entirely blank or not submitted at all.

the best likely course is to make any appropriate changes to
the feed, re-upload the feed, and then contact google directly --

Thanks. I just re-uploaded with gtin as the value instead of mpn. The error they're giving it in the downloadable file is 'strong_id_inaccurate' then it quotes the brand by name and the upc, ie:Cnp Professional,683623010009

These aren't the typical disapproved products for other violations of so many other products in this category of dietary supplements.

Thank you Celebird. You've been exceedingly helpful! Thank you for clarifying 'brand' as probably being the source or our issue. Maybe so other sellers reading this have clarification, I'm really trying to button down an answer on this "strong_id_inaccurate" warning as it seems to be an easy tangle to get into.

What it appears the problem is, (because all our UPC's are correct to their respective products) is that in our feed a misspelling, exclusion of Inc. or Corp. at the end of the brand name, or maybe even certain letters being capitalized or not will flag them for this "strong_id_inaccurate" warning we're getting for over 20% of our 6000 product feed.

Perhaps can you forward this to or include someone that has detailed knowledge of how to go about correcting this?
