Products and Custom Options?

Hello!

We sell hand dryers through bigcommerce. We offer plenty of options for customization (ex: voltage, nozzle, accessories - see it here: http://www.fasthanddryer.com/xlerator-chrome-xl-c/).

I realize google merchant does not support all of these options. How do you deal with this?

Thanks in advance...

first, thank you for the example, sample, (see-it-here) link url.

(a) if the options can be preselected and crawled --
either via a url-paramter or separate landing-page --
then, each option may be submitted as a separate item with an exactly
matching price, title, description, image_link, and link value that exactly
matches the displayed price and item on the page.
e.g.
http://www.example.com/xlerator-chrome-xl-c?volts=208V-7Amp-60hz

generally, only the options (variants) that are currently

in your physical stock inventory should be submitted.

(b) if any size option can be preselected and crawled --
either via a url-paramter or separate landing-page --
then, identical item_group_id and size attributes
must also be submitted if you wish to submit that
particular variant of the item.

e.g.

http://www.example.com/xlerator-chrome-xl-c?size=.8&volts=208V-7Amp-60hz

include a matching price, title, and description.

(c) if any color, pattern, or material option can be preselected,
that changes the outward appearance of the item then, an exact
image_link value that reflects the exact item being purchased --
with an exactly matching product image on the landing-page --
with identical item_group_id and appropriate values for the
color, pattern, or material attribute(s) must also be submitted
if you wish to submit any of those particular variants.

include a matching price, title, and description.

(d) otherwise, the landing-page should contain a set of
preselected defaults and (only) the, one, single, default
add-to-cart item on the page should be submitted

the price, title, description, and image_link should reflect that default.

(e) the price displayed on the landing-page and default add-to-cart
price must always exactly match the submitted price, at all times,
for all users, regardless of where the user is physically located.

otherwise, submitting such an item risks
disapproval or suspension, at any time.

This helps a lot. I think we are going to try listing our best sellers as we always have them in stock and it will be a good way to see how all of this works.

My next question is if I am going to list (for example) hand dryers by voltage as separate items on google shopping:
XL-C-120
XL-CV-240
XL-C8-208
Do I need to make sure my website on Big Commerce also matches this?! Or could they all go back to the original XL-C Page and then the user can select preferred voltage?

first, you're welcome.

if the voltages are all the same price then,
the same landing-page could likely be used
and the item submitted only once.

if the prices are different then ideally,
each should have a separate link url --
e.g. the same landing-page but the voltage
preselected via a link url-parameter, with
a corresponding price per submitted item
and displayed on the landing-page.
