Possible to link existing accounts to Multi-Client Merchant Account?

Hello,

My company operates merchant accounts for a number of different websites, including our own retail sites for different territories as well as partner sites we operate for other companies. Recently, we were able to upgrade one of our existing accounts to a multi-merchant account. However, all of our existing accounts are scattered across different logins, making management quite difficult. I know that with the multi-client account we can add new accounts, but is there a way for us to merge existing accounts into the new account structure, either through the interface or through direct assistance from Google? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I should add that currently, Merchant Center operations do not appear to be tightly integrated into adwords support. There is no phone number to call directly for merchant center questions, unlike in adwords itself, and most Adwords CS reps I've talked to treat it as a separate entity, referring anything requiring more than basic set-up to the self-help sections for merchant center, which are not a big help in many of these cases. As a big chunk of enterprise-level companies are looking to integrate merchant center accounts with adwords, it would be great to see tighter support integration between the two products in the future.

"making management quite difficult"
can this be clarified somewhat -- managing what exactly?

how much control is wanted? merge in what way?

about the easiest way to manage feed-data across multiple disparate accounts
is simply to use ftp -- have the clients send any initial feed details and separate
ftp-credentials to you and manage the (feed) data and updates from one server;
a separate email as an admin-account can manage the occasional feed mishap.

there's no literal, exact, concept of an account-merge
for a merchant-center-multi-client-account with clients.

to take over a client within a merchant-center-multi-client-account,
the client typically must relinquish their claim and delete all feeds --
then, the client information is added as a new sub-account; this can be
automated somewhat via the content-api if there are many sub-accounts;
but this step can be skipped altogether if simply managing the client's
feed-data is all that's needed or wanted.

the adwords-management is a somewhat separate question and is typically
dependent on who is handling billing and managing the campaign details.

as to operations, when calling adwords, emphasizing strongly and immediately
that you have a question about "product listing ads"-- not text-ads,
not keywords, and not any other adwords ad-type, may sometimes

help allow the issue to be handled by a specialist or escalated.

We currently have around 20 different merchant accounts. These are all managed with different emails/logins/passwords/etc. To check if the feeds are operating as expected we need to log into 20 different accounts to check error messages, etc. With our new multi-client setup we can create lots of new sub-accounts to handle new domains, but there is no way for us to import the existing accounts into the multi-client account without, as you mentioned, deleting all the existing feeds, closing down the accounts, and setting up new sub accounts.
The problem is that those existing feeds are being utilized both within our group as well as through 3rd party agencies for some of our clients, so simply deleting the existing feeds and accounts could pose problems. The MCC account structure for Adwords makes it reasonably easy to swap accounts in and out of a parent organization structure without damaging the integrity of the accounts themselves, and so I was kind of hoping maybe there was a way to do something similar in merchant center.

"To check if the feeds are operating"
"through 3rd party agencies"

those are rather divergent roles and concepts -- if an agency
is handling the data (feeds )checking on the feed's operations
should be unnecessary.

that said, if all that is wanted is to check on the feed's operations,
simply have the client (or whoever is handling the feed details)
set their notifications to 'always' and add any one of your emails
as a (single point of technical) contact.

I meant that the feeds are being utilized by 3rd party agencies, to manage ad campaigns in adwords, not managing the feeds directly. That said, it looks like we will probably end up going down the route of manually migrating the old accounts to new sub accounts. Appreciate the feedback.

first, you're welcome.

if the 3rd parties are utilizing the feed data that you supply,
simply use ftp with email notifications -- there's little reason
for a merchant-center-multi-client-account in that scenario.

a merchant-center-multi-client-account is designed to take over for a client --
mainly, but not limited to, claiming the website and managing, maintaining,
and fixing, all submitted data (feed), policy related, or technical issues;
google can be contacted to ask if that (take-over/merge) can be done en masse.

regardless, any such migration will likely require careful
coordination to help avoid disapproval or suspension.

Wish there was a way for an agency to manage multiple merchant accounts. Google really needs to integrate this feature so an agency can view feed errors or look up products in the feed.

this is a rather old thread.

if an agency is handling client data, the typical method to view data-feed
errors and products is by using sub-accounts under a multi-client-account --
an agency handling feed data would already have access to the raw data.

otherwise, feed results can be viewed via email -- by the
client adding the agency's email as the technical-context.

results and products and be viewed more directly if
the client adds the agency to their user-access list.

the content-api may also be used to view errors and products.

otherwise, google is unlikely to add additional (tighter) integration --
whoever owns the account is responsible for the website and data.

I have a multi client account but when my client who has two Merchant Center accounts tries to share sub accounts they still get an error sharing it with me.
