Policy Violations???

So 8 percent of my products have been disapproved due to "Policy Violations" -- there are no details whatsoever as to what the violation is.  How can I fix something I don't know what to fix?  This is bird food -- what could it violate?

Hi Joe,

Can you provide a link to one of the items in question?

Is there nothing listed in the diagnostics area of your Google Merchant
Center login?

This could be a number of reasons, it may be something within the feed, may
be the landing page. However, with no further information it is difficult
for us to help you as we obviously have no access to your account.

I would suggest contacting Google directly to try and get to the bottom of
it.

You can do so, by either completing this form

https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/suspended?hl=en-GB&cfnti=lang.idividual_item_disapprove...

Or using the contact methods listed here

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/8206?hl=en-GB

Please ensure you let them know this is a Shopping Campaign issue.

Whilst you wait on a reply, as stated above, if you link to a suspended
item, we could see if it is anything obvious.

Tom

Thanks Tom -- while the Diagnostics says it's under the list of "Policy Violations" when you click on the reason it says "does not meet feed specification" - a number of the items say that, most others do not give a link to a reason at all:

Do you have any data feed errors, in the data feed tab? This product is widely available on Google Shopping, so I don't see why yours is in violation due to the product.
So my guess is there is an issue of missing data in your data feed.

Check for warnings in there, also adhere to Google's Policy, like no promotional text, image that describe the product etc...

If there are still issues I suggest contacting Google Adwords team or find a Google Shopping Expert

The only information given for this and 98 other items is: Automatic item disapprovals due to policy violation. I use a feed service to generate my feed and over 900 other products are approved. One of the items I requested a manual review and it was re-approved, but only a handful of items have this option. There is no apparent reason for disapproval.

Your response made me think of something - is Google promoting use of "Google Shopping Experts" through disapprovals?

Hi Joe,

Whilst reaching out for assistance from Google Shopping experts has its
benefits, these are usually more within optimizing your listings/data-feed,
creating the Shopping Campaign etc..

In cases of disapproval, use of a third-party will get you no further than
speaking with Google yourself about this matter.
This is due to many factors, however, the main being,
disapproval/suspensions can be related to your Data-Feed content, landing
page content, website as a whole, account discrepencies and so on...
Therefore cannot be guaranteed an positive outcome.

As you personally know your company better than anyone else, speaking with
Google directly will enable you to provide the necessary information and
make changes much quicker than having to speak with a middle man.

Whilst I am not saying experts or specialists don't have their place, in
cases such as this, only Google can lift the ban and see what is the cause,
the best anyone outside of Google can do is offer suggestions.

This being said, if you do speak with Google and are supplied the reasoning
and require assistance in resolving the issue, then we can try our very
best to help here.

I appreciate that response -- however, getting an answer from Google seems to be the challenge. Filled out the form -- maybe I'm expecting an answer in a quicker manner than Google gives it.

Totally agree with Tom,

The issue can be as simple as promotional text, contact details in description etc...
I have found that using plugins don't allow you to alter the data independently. Meaning that if you have a violation due to wording that you will have to change the text for both the site and the feed.

What a specialist can do is investigate the most common issues, but in the long run if it's not obvious, as Tom says than only Google can do change the status.

Your issues could also be due to image violation, link redirects or even something as simple as. If you submit products to eBay than theoretically you can not submit it again on your own site. Doing this can trigger a violation.

I suggest if not using a specialist, to give them a call. They are very good in answering. However sometimes the answers can be generic and you are no further than you where before.

Do any of your products have "hemp" in the description? It could be automatic disapproval due to picking up words in your product names or descriptions associated with prohibited items.
