Performance Issues w/ Shopping Migration

I've recently switched a client's PLA campaigns to the new shopping campaigns, and we used to occupy top positions in the serps for our most coveted keyword, now that I've migrated the campaigns, the ads are no where in sight. Is this just a lag or a permanent performance problem?

there can sometimes be a lag of a few days or so.

verify that there are no feed, item, or policy issues

in the merchant-center -- and any required transition

from the legacy adwords-attributes to custom-labels,

for the new product-groups, went smoothly.

also, verify that the regular-product-listing-ads campaigns, that

are advertising the same products as the shopping-campaigns,

are currently paused within adwords; so that the same products

are not advertising in more than one campaign.

also, be certain to use the adwords adpreview-tool

and the statistics within adwords, analytics, and the

merchant-center, to verify an ad's visibility -- not any

direct search on google or google-shopping.

Thanks Celebrid. I definitely paused the old one and have been using the preview tool to search for ad visibility. In the new shopping campaign I subdivided my products per the new custom labels in lieu of the Adwords labels i was using in the old set up.

I'm just concerned that the loss of history in the new shopping campaigns will effect the favorable positions we've enjoyed for desired keywords the past year.

I'm very curious about this as well.

We migrated from a traditional PLA to the new Shopping PLA a few months back and our ROI went into the red big time. We disabled it and went back to our legacy PLA, but that was before there was a firm deadline.

I just made the switch again, but none of our ads are appearing. I disabled our old PLA, I set the priority to high on the Shopping PLA, but still no ads are showing.

Is there a delay between enabling the new Shopping PLA and it going live? I have about 3000 products, and the appear to all be searchable in Merchant Center product status.

yes, there can sometimes be a delay of a few days or so.

be certain that any change to the feed did not trigger a review.

searchable simply indicates the items are eligible for display --
not that the items match a product-group or are guaranteed
to win a slot in the auctions and will be displayed.

also, be certain that items are being included in the product-group --
click the view-full-list-of-products under the product-groups tab
within the shopping-campaign.

first, you're welcome.

yes, any change to a campaign can affect its history
and there is no guarantee that quality or rank will be
identical after a campaign's history has been affected.

Tony,

It took about a day for our PLA's to return to historic performance after the migration. Everything is now running as it did before.

Thanks for the advice! It took a few hours, but we were up and running again. It just seems like the ROI is way worse on the new Shopping PLA, but PLA's seems to be an enigma wrapped in a mystery so there's that. At least we can have easier interface with the product categories and brands for bid adjustments. I think that'll help a lot.

Best of luck to you all out there! Glad to know I'm not alone! =)
