Need to create a rule in shopping to ignore CDN image link in .xml file in favor of local image link

My client used Big Commerce and BC no longer supports the .xml shopping feed file, although you can still access and use it. The BC Google Shopping app, meant to replace the .xml feed file simply does not work and cannot be used.

I know enough shopping set up to be dangerous and we're using a manual feed right now to at least have products up and showing. We'd like to at least use the .xml feed while we can for quick or bulk updates.

I looked into making a rule but did not get very far. Honestly, confused the f out of me.

Here's the link the .xml file, followed by the CDN link that Google sees on the website and in the manual file. BC says they can't change either one for various reasons, so will a rule work, and if so, can you give me an example for this one product?

currently, the new feed-rules are rather simplistic --
unless there is a very simple one-to-one replacement.

a supplemental-feed may be viable for this use-case, depending on the details.

a supplemental-feed automatically creates a feed-rule, based on a file --
a supplemental-feed may be either created and uploaded remotely, or created
using a google-spreadsheet and fetched within the merchant-center-account.

for this use-case, a supplemental-feed example for one product:

id image_link
abc123 http://www.example.com/images/proper-image-for-abc123.png

e.g.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WeXPVPtowhPp0Sudh9iFX6ZYIVLzCv6diWjj6HLyaTc/edit?usp=sharing

then, after the supplemental-feed has been processed,

each item matching an id, within the submitted-data,

will have the corresponding image_link value replaced.

maintaining any supplemental-feed or any feed-rule can
be subtle and time consuming, depending on the details.

a best-practice is to always check the final-attributes section,

by clicking on the item's title, under the products-list-tab, to
verify the supplemental-feed/feed-rule has properly replaced
the submitted-data.

that said, google strongly recommends not to mix api-based uploads
with any file upload -- that may cause race-conditions, clobbering
previously submitted data, duplicate listing violations, and many
other potential issues.

of course, the best likely course would be to contact big-commerce
support directly, for a much more long-term and robust solution.
