Magento 2 - Configurable Products PLA

Sorry to repost a seemingly often asked question, but not with always a clear response.

In our case we have a magento 2 shop, with mostly configurable products: 1 option, 2 prices.

We bought an extension claiming to give the solution for solving the 'pricing' problem where Google PLA would object against advertising the wrong prices.

The following is the case:

In our feed we advertise two products with the same landingpage, but different specs (gtin, title, price)

On this landingpage we have 2 products in microdata, with all PLA required elements. (with above matching gtin, title, pricing)

Structured data test says all OK.

The extension we bought claimed this setup would work. We see different results: our most expensive product ads are now being advertised as "30% off" due to the lower priced variant.

My question now is actually: can this setup ever work? The interesting part is we have a nearly identical feed, with the same landingpages for two countries, one has the '30% off' problem, the other feed doesn't. This could be a crawling delay though, not sure. The only feedback that I didn't account for is the 'unique url' for the product variants. I could easily spoof a non existing url parameter to do that, but that really seems silly, but then again, these automatic '30% off' indications are also silly...

Thanks for any help...

Yes it can, you just need a web developer to make some changes.

1) Each variant needs a unique landing page. For example if your base URL is http://example.com/protein-powder.html, than you can submit a link with query string identifying the variant. For example http://example.com/protein-powder.html?type=7&flavour=44&size=1684

2) Than you have a script on your landing page in PHP, that will look at the query and than show the correct information for this specific product. Which changes the title, image, price etc... All of this needs to be server side, meaning you can't use javascript to do this.

The best way forward is to contact a magento developer explain your situation and explain than each variant needs a unique link in the feed, and that these unique links need to match everything identically from the landing page to the data feed.

You definitely need a developer for this, this is not something you can do with a switch of a button unfortunately.

Hope it helps.
