Local inventory ads for products that are prohibited by the manufacturer from being sold online

Hello!

Our platform allows retailers to optionally display products in their catalog without being able to put them in a shopping cart and buy online. They have the item in stock, and it is displaying in their online catalog as "in stock", but the item can only be purchased in-store. (Some manufacturers restrict retailers from selling their products online.)

First, would an item like this be eligible for Google Local Inventory Ads?

Second, assuming the answer to the above question is "yes", what would the appropriate pickup_method attribute value be? This article list the following possible values for the pickup_method attribute:

  • 'buy': the entire transaction occurs online
  • 'reserve': the item is reserved online and the transaction occurs in-store
  • 'not supported': the item is not available for store pickup

None of these options seem appropriate without the item being purchasable online prior to being picked up in-store.

Thanks!

(1) yes;
(2) simply do not included any such attributes in the feed --
store-pickup related attributes are not allowed and do not apply,
unless the item can also be purchased or reserved on-line.

the store-pickup related attributes are optional and must only be
used if the user is able to complete the order or checkout process,
on-line, and then pick up the item-offer at the store -- the attributes
are otherwise not allowed to be used for any other sceneries, such as
without a secure on-line checkout/reserved-for-purchase process.

any optional attribute-value that is submitted must be accurate,

valid, and adhere to all rules and policies related to the attributes --

otherwise, do not submit the data, at all.

for local-inventory-ads, simply be certain that the physical item-offer
adheres to all shopping-ads policies, and the exact item described, in
the feed, can be purchased at the physical brick-and-mortar storefront.
