HI there we are using a standard google feed plugin for woocommerce and have followed all the required steps to create a feed. all appears correct with the feed seen here http://www.thebeardguy.store/?woocommerce_gpf=google however when fetching the feed from Google Merchant it generates the error "

Feed file is in a format that we don't support: HTML. Please make sure you upload your feeds in one of our documented formats.

Looking at the generate xml all html elements are encapsulated in [CDATA[

no other information is provided, has anyone experienced this or can advise

Hello @Paul D

I would try to Fetch the feed again. If it still shows the same error, please follow this guide:

https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/google-product-feed/

The file seems fine to me.

Regards,

Hana

that url seems to be returning html -- which is not a supported feed format.

generally, this indicates issues related to hosting or the plugin.

also, the site/link seems to be loading rather slowly.

the best likely course would be to contact
whoever is supporting the plug-in, hosting,

or woo-commerce support directly:
https://woocommerce.com/contact-us/

as an aside, be certain that all physical inventory,

the entire website, and all submitted data, meet

all current merchant-center/shopping-ad policies.

Hi Hana, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I dropped the ? from the url and it dropped the HTML error. now I just have to figure out my size and color aren't picking up from my attributes but I suppose that's another topic

Removing the question mark will make the file lead to a 404. The question mark defines a query string which is required for your file to output data. Maybe you meant something else?

Works : http://www.thebeardguy.store/?woocommerce_gpf=google

Does not work : http://www.thebeardguy.store/woocommerce_gpf=google

Hi Paul!

This is most likely because you are hosted with WPengine.

See excerpt from help article here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/google-product-feed-troubleshooting/#section-6

"If you are hosted at WPEngine, they don’t allow Google to access URLs with query arguments. Instead use a permalink-style URL.

Instead of:
http://www.example.com/?woocommerce_gpf=google

you should use:
http://www.example.com/woocommerce_gpf/google

the best likely course is to contact the

platform's support-organization directly --

https://wpengine.com/support-contact/

Thanks - i have resolved this now.

It was a case of just deactivating the plugin, deleting it, and then reinstalling from new which did the trick.

many thanks

Clicking save on the feed tab in woocommerce worked for me.
