Including digital download photos in product feed

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Hi,

I'm having problems getting a feed to validate.

I'm trying to include my downloadable image products.

However, its asking for a 'shipping information' , which obviously doesnt exist for a downloadable digital product.

I saw one post saying that only 'tangible' products can be sold on Google Shopping, however, if I do a search I can find many many downloadable photos and such from etsy etc in Google shopping listings.

So, I'm confused. Can I sell my products through Google shopping or not?

Its also asking for 'Condition' and 'GTIN', which are not applicable to downloads.

Thanks,

Rob D.

(1) an image_link value, that adheres to all current policies,
showing an image of the item being purchased is required.

(2) shipping is required for all items -- even if zero;

shipping may be either set in the account as a default
or included in the submitted (feed) data as a valid
shipping value for the item.

shipping within the submitted data (feed) for an item will
override any shipping set in the account, for that item;

for example,
US:::0.00 USD

if shipping is set in the account, be certain the method
is set as active and the registered feed's target-country
and the shipping method's country, match.

(3) in this case, condition should be submitted as new

(4) media items require a gtin as assigned by the manufacturer;
if valid gtin currently exists then, valid gtin must be submitted.

however, if a valid gtin does not currently exist then,
the identifier_exists attribute must be submitted with
a value of FALSE

if identifier_exists is FALSE for an item then, brand, gtin, and mpn
values should be left entirely blank (entirely empty), for that item.

if all items have identifier_exists FALSE then,
brand, gtin, and mpn may be deleted altogether.

(5) some downloadable products are allowed --
with restrictions as outlined in the policies.

Thanks Celebird.

Its strange, yesterday I had set my account level shipping to zero, and even after doing that after some resubmits, it still was still complaining that there was no shipping info.

However, today, I just resubmitted it (without having changed anything from yesterdays last shipping error), and it worked fine today.

Maybe there was some 'delay' when setting the account level shipping, before it would work?

I will set the other fields as you suggest.

Thanks for your help,

Rob.

According to Google Policy, digital products can not be sold on Google Shopping. How etsy is able to do this, I don't know but it is a violation of Google's policy.

Unless you can send a picture to the customer by post and you are supplying the digital download as an free service. I think this might work. But don't quote me on it.

But you are not aloud to mention any promotional text. I recommend contacting Google about this. But logically thinking I don't see why not.

Thanks Emmanuel.

Yep, Etsy seem to be allowed to do it, see here:

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#newwindow=1&tbm=shop&q=in...

I got my feed to validate after checking everything and correcting what Celebird said, and I then submitted a live test of just 2 of my downloads, which after 24hrs went to 'Disapproved or invalid' with no explanation or anything.

I emailed their support to ask what 'Disapproved or invalid' means, but they havent replied. As I had no idea if there is a problem I need to fix or what.

The posting thing isnt something I can do, so if they wont let me sell digital downloads, then I will just have to not use Google Shopping. Seems strange that a company so 'Digital' like Google and in this day and age they dont allow something like that.

(1) yes, any setting within the account that effects submitted data
may take 24-72 hours or so before the setting is made available
and the data (feed) can be resubmitted

(2) again, some digital goods may be submitted with restrictions.

(3) if others are submitting the same similar items in violation of
those restrictions or policies then, it is possible the items simply
have not been flagged yet, especially with respect to marketplaces;
in those cases, eventually the items will be flagged or the individual
merchant, marketplace-seller, can be reported directly to google.

(4) a disapproval can be for many issues -- with the feed, submitted images,
variants, website, type of item, target-country, item supply-chain, or some
combination of these.

forum members cannot look into feeds or accounts; we would
need a lot more details posted here in the public forum to offer
more accurate suggestions.

generally, review the physical item, website, target-country, supply-chain,
feed details, submitted images, variants in the feed and on the landing-page,
against all rules, policies, guidelines, specifications, and requirements.

otherwise, a support specialist may be contacted directly.
