Image Background Color

We have four images in our ecommerce store which do not have white backgrounds. Are all products for Google Shopping required to be on white backgrounds? Also is this requirement going to be enforced per the September 30 deadline. At present our dashboard indicates that "No issues with your data have been found at this time."

yes, a white, gray or lightly colored background is required.

the image should have a very limited background --
an image with too much background (> 25%)
may also be flagged -- regardless of any color.

yes, the enforcement will begin to be more strict
beginning september 30 -- but violations may be
disapproved at any time before or after.

data-issues (or lack-thereof) have nothing to do with images;
images are crawled 72-hours or so after a feed has been
submitted and processed and any image violations will
result in individual items being disapproved -- as seen
in the main dashboard-graphs or products-tab and may
be reported within the data-quality section, depending
on the type of violation.

there can be no issues with your data -- but still trigger a

disapproval or suspension for image. website, inventory,

physical product, or supply-chain, related issues.

no-issues with your data may also be seen if the

feed has not be resubmitted or processed properly;

be certain that the data-feed has been processed

so re-crawls of the site and images are triggered --

always check the data-feed status.

Hi Celebird,
Can you please provide a link to image background requirements?
I don't see reference to image background color in shopping feed image policy:

I see shopping feed listings with bright yellow background. Is it just a matter of time for them to be disapproved? Example: https://www.google.com/webhp?tab=ww&authuser=0&ei=Xhw0VJWzL4anyQSh8IHgAw&ved=0CAkQ1S4#q=New+Starter+...
Thanks,
Olga

Hi Olga

https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/188494?hl=en-GB

You will find the following under the image link Details :-

"The main image should be taken on a solid white, grey or light-coloured background."

Disapproval or suspension can happen at anytime, for a variety of reasons. Others may go against policy, however, your sole focus should be on your own items and adhering to the boundaries set by Google.
