How should I fix error caused by submitting a new feed?

Follower ✭ ✭ ✭

I submitted a product to the Merchant Center via a feed. There was an error in the feed, and I fixed the error and uploaded the feed with a new filename. Google gave me the following warning message: "The item was previously uploaded using a different feed. Please make sure to use the same feed for all uploads of a given item."

Now I have two feeds sitting in my merchant center, and Google won't accept either one of them. Regardless of which one I submit, I get the above warning. How do I fix this?

Thank you.

generally, never delete the registered data-feed unless
indicated to do so by a person at google -- only one,

single feed should need to be registered; the one, single,

feed can handle between one and 100,000 items or so.

use the same registered feed for all updates --
including additions, deletions, and changes;
google tracks items by id -- any missing items'
id or changed id values are considered a delete.

as a best-practice never use simple integer values for id (e.g. 1,2,20,30)
rather, use internal sku or similar values for the id;
id must be unique per item and should never change.

in this particular case, and this specific case only --
delete all feeds and register a new feed with a new name.

be certain there is only one, single, feed registered with google.

then, assign a new id (that was never used) to the item -- before submitting the feed.

then, from now on, never delete the new feed

and never change the new id value; be certain

there is only one live feed registered with google.

the warning can then be ignored.

google may take 24-72 hours or so to settle and process the changes.

also, be certain that the submitted item and website are
adhering to all current google (shopping) rules and policies.

I uploaded a new feed with a new id for the item. The Status message now is "1 of 1 items inserted."

Is there any site where I can learn the procedures and vocabulary of Merchant Center? For example, I presume "1 of 1 items inserted" is good news, but I'm not sure. I had read the basic Intro to Merchant Center page (https://support.google.com/merchants/?hl=en#topic=3404818 and sub-pages), but am still afraid I'm going to make some more rookie mistakes.

inserted is mainly a simple count and
does not indicate any specific status.

generally, check the feed-status-summary report for feed status;

check the individual item's status under the products-tab by clicking

on the item's title -- and the quality-tab for any site related issues,

approximatly 24-72 hours after the feed has have been processed

and items have been inserted (counted).

the merchant-center help articles

Hi Celebird,
Thank you very much for all your help. I'll check the summary report after 72 hours as you suggested.

first, you're welcome.

the summary report should be available as
soon as the feed has finished processing
and the inserted count has been updated.

the quality report is updated 24-72 hours or so
after the data-feed has been processed -- since
a crawl of the website and images are required.

the products-tab may also take 24-72 hours to update

in this particular case since the original feed's items will

first be deleted and then the "new" item inserted --

otherwise, normally, the items will simply be updated

based on the id value and feed re-upload time.

after processing, any new items usually trigger

an automatic review by a person at google --

that can take an additional 24-48 hours or so.
