How does click and impression count for google shopping in search

I have a few questions about the clicks for Google Shopping Campaigns.
The first one is when one is counted? Is it when a customer click into the product page on google shopping or when a customer click into my website?

The second one is about the impression.
I have a product A. It shows in the google shopping search result, it is one impression. Right?
Then I click into the product page on google shopping of product A. Is it counted as a click or not? Is it another impression?

The third one is about the CTR.
When I click product A into the product page at google shopping, is this action called click through?

Thank you very much.

We only charge for clicks on Product Listing Ads that lead directly to a merchant's website. This includes clicks on Local Product Listing Ads that link to merchant websites hosted by Google. You aren't charged for clicks on Product Listing Ads that lead to pages within the Google Shopping website.

Hi Uwdress,

Thanks for your question.

  1. When a customer clicks on your shopping ad it is counted as a click.
  2. When product A is showing in your shopping result it is counted as an impression. When they click on the ad it is counted as a click.
  3. Clickthrough Rate is a ratio showing how often people who see your ad end up clicking it. It's the number of clicks that your ad receives divided by the number of times your ad is shown (called impressions). For example, if you have five clicks and 1000 impressions, then your CTR is 0.5%.
CTR = Clicks on your ads ÷ Impressions (ad views)

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I am still not clear about the click. Do you mean it is counted as a click even if the click was directed to the product page on Google shopping instead of our website?

So if I am understanding correctly - If someone clicks on a product, and 14 different sellers are listed, it is not considered a click until the user clicks on a seller. Then that click would be attributed to that sellers adwords account?
