Hi Sagarika,

Here are the steps users need to take to get started a Google Shopping Campaign:

1. Set up Merchant Center account

2. Link Merchant Center to AdWords

3. Create a Google Shopping campaign in your AdWords account

1. Set up a Merchant Center account:

For you to be able to run Product Listing Ads, you will have to set up a Google Merchant Center account and submit your product data. The step by step instructions to set up a Merchant Center account are available at this link.

2. Link Merchant Center account to your AdWords account:

Once you set up the Merchant Center account, you will need to link it to your AdWords account. To link the accounts all you need to do is enter the Adwords account ID in the AdWords section of your Merchant Center account. The steps to link the accounts along with screenshots are available at this link.

3. Create a Google Shopping campaign in your AdWords account:

The last thing you need to do to complete the setup for Product Listing Ads is to create a Shopping campaign. The step-by-step instructions to create Shopping campaigns are available at this link.

Let us know if you have any questions about this, or feel free to share some tips about how you got started with your Google Shopping Campaign!

Why do i need a product data feed? There isn't an easier way to list a few products?

the product data-feed is simply required for
shopping-campaigns (product-listing-ads).

the registered data-feed can accommodate

from one to about 100,000 inventory items.

a simple spreadsheet file can be used for all items --

use the same tab-delimited file for a few items; then,

add more items to the same file as inventory grows.

there are other campaign-types and ad-formats that
do not require a data-feed or the merchant-center --

Hi Sargarika,

Hope you are well.

Just seen your post and Charmi answered it really well.

I just wanted to add a few extra Tip, don’t just set up the one PLA campaign set up two campaigns.
In the first campaign you want all your Products and set the Priority to Medium. For this you want to keep the bids really low anywhere from £0.01 to £0.10. Us it as a backup campaign.

The second campaign you want to add all you priority Products, the ones you sell the most of or make the most money on. In the setting you will want to make sure the Priority is set to High and then increase your bids on these items to make sure they always show.

Remember to make sure you excluded all over Products in your priority campaign.

hi,
I already use Adwords but want to set up shopping to promote our products. I am confused as when I have linked my adwords account to merchant and attempt to do the shopping part, it only wants me to build new campaigns rather than using my existing campaign. is this correct? Seems like it will get messy and using new campaigns rather than existing adwords info already there? I just assumed you would be able to upload your products via a barcode and this would be simple? any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Katie E

When you wish to list all your products on Google Shopping, you are required to have a Google Merchant Center account and must submit your items within a data-feed. This can be done a number of ways, see here -

Tab Delimited - https://support.google.com/merchants/topic/2473823?hl=en-GB

XML - https://support.google.com/merchants/topic/2473799?hl=en-GB

Speadsheet - https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/2364723?hl=en-GB

Whichever feed format you choose, it must adhere to policies and feed specifications -

https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/188484?hl=en-GB

Once a successful upload has been carried out and products approved, your items will be shown within results assuming you have correctly linked your Google Merchant Center account and AdWords account and created a new Shopping Campaign within your AdWords account see here -

If you have any further questions after reading these help pages, please ask.

Thanks - still doesn't really help to be honest. I find that this website seems to not make things clear at all.
