How can i assign a different url for shopping promotions

So we recently got suspended for having lower 'in cart' pricing which seems to be a violation. We resolved the issue by temporarily blocking those products from the feed.

In my conversations with our merchant center rep, they said the recommended way to promote those products is by setting up individual product promotions. For these promotion products, we need to send them directly to the cart - do we simply replace the 'link' field in our merchant feed with the specific 'cart url' for these products, or should we leave that one alone and replace the url in the adwords_redirect field? Or do we replace both?

Thank you!

first, you're welcome.

the best likely course would be to contact a
merchant-promotions-program specialist at
google to look into the account specifics --

generally, what is seen being implemented by other
merchants does not necessarily mean that anyone
at google has seen or approved the ad.

Hi Proj

You will first need to fill in the Promotions Request Form - https://services.google.com/fb/forms/merchantpromotionsform/

As you have spoke with a Google Rep, I assume you are within the requirements to be eligble (https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/4588460?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=2877465) I would take a look at this link to make sure. It can take a couple of weeks at times, so whilst you await their decision, can read up about Promotions here - https://support.google.com/merchants/topic/3398479?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=2877465

Hi Tom,

We've actually run promotions before in the past but we sent them to our regular product landing page. What I'm trying to figure out is the proper protocol for sending the user directly to the cart instead - e.g. we're bound by MAP pricing and can't send the user to the main product landing page because we can't show the discounted price there.

Do we use the in cart url for BOTH the link field and the adwords_redirect field, or only one or the other?

thanks,

the merchant-feed link is used with identical
rules and policies for the link landing-page.

the promotion (discount information) is shown with a
product-listing-ad and must be applied at checkout.

as was indicated, there are additional requirements.

Thanks Celebird. I'm familiar with all the additional requirements. The ONLY thing I'm not sure of is setting up the destination urls. Forgive me for being unclear, it's possible I'm over-complicating what I'm trying to do.

Perhaps an example would help.
Product X has a limited time manufacturer promotion - $200 instant discount at checkout. Because of the rules the manufacturer has bestowed upon us, we cannot advertise the ACTUAL price on our landing page or in any of our external advertising. We CAN show the normal price and say $200 instant discount at checkout, so I set up a promotion for product X. All the promotion information is completed and a separate promotion feed is submitted.

In the main merchant center feed, product x price is set to the normal price, a promotion id is referenced and there are 2 destination urls available in the feed. One is the product landing page url, the other is the adwords_redirect url.

Should I leave the product landing page url as is (pointing to the product landing page) and point the adwords_redirect url to the cart - where a message visibly says 'you are saving $x on this product. the price is $x' (which would match up exactly with the promotion I have assigned in the promotion feed.) OR should I set BOTH the links to the cart url since the main product landing page will not reference the lower 'in cart' price.

Hope this helps explain the situation. Basically I'm trying to do exactly what B&H photo does for it's MAP regulated products, like this search. https://www.google.com/search?q=ae8000&oq=ae8000&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2j69i61j69i59j0.1743j0j7&so...
