If the products have a GTIN, then that should be added to the feed. Google wants to know when multiple merchants are selling the exact same product in Shopping.

 

A SKU is meaningless to Google. But there are GTIN databases which Google uses, so Google knows if your product will tell you if you need to be supplying a GTIN. If you don't, the product won't run.
