I need to add materials to my Google shopping feed. Is there a list of materials Google recognise, like there is product categories, or do I just type them in and hope google understands them?

Thanks for your help in advance.

currently, there is no such definitive list of recognized materials.

google does have requirements and best-practices that if not followed
will typically result in worse performance than not using the attribute
at all, or trigger a disapproval, at any time.

generally, only one, single, relevant value may be submitted --
unless the item is composed of multiple materials; in which
case, two, secondary relevant values may also be submitted,
and must be slash-delimited.

the material value must be relevant with respect to the exact physical
item being shipped, without any abbreviations or technical/internal terms,
and should be understandable by all users within the target-country who

are viewing the shopping-ad.

for example:
cotton
denim
leather
polyester
wool
wool/cotton
100% cotton

only relevant values are allowed.

typically, proper item_group_id is also required for such items,

if the material differences indicate variants of the same phsyical

inventory item are being submitted.
