Google Shopping New Dimensional Shipping Weight Rates

With Google's announcement of supporting the dimensional weight rates that were implemented by UPS and FedEx, what do merchants do with products that are in the feed that only ship USPS? Some our shipping locations only ship products USPS and do not have the dimensional weights for a grouping of products. We base our shipping costs on product weight and distance. In the Ship Settings, we currently use the UPS standard ground rate + a set percentage increase for all our products. Do we just supply the regular weight in the feed for these USPS only products and use the settings in the merchant center to generate the shipping? My site is www.wisconsinmade.com.

Any advice on how to handle this scenario is appreciated.

Thanks,

Sue

the current rules are that if carrier-calculated shipping is configured
within the google-merchant-center-account and matches an item
then, all dimensional shipping attributes are required for that item --
shipping_weight, shipping_length, shipping_width, shipping_height

usually shipping_label is also required unless only
one shipping setting is configured in the account.

currently, google's policies do not differentiate between carriers
that may or may not use submitted dimensional measurements.

for product-listing-ads (google-shopping) there
is no such concept as a grouping of products --
a single shipping value is assigned to one, single,
item; the submitted item-offer (within the feed).

if multiple items are bundled or a minimum-quantity must be purchased,
then those would be submitted and considered as one, single, item-offer.

shipping for a submitted item-offer must be either (a) exactly
correct; or (b) an overestimate for the majority of users within
the (registered feed's) target-country.

you are solely responsible for accurate shipping information;
so, always check the individual item within the products-tabs,
by clicking on the item's title, to be certain that the above
criteria is met with respect to what (shipping) is displayed
and what (shipping) will actually be charged to the customer --
to help avoid a disapproval or suspension.

Hi Celebird, Thank you for the clarification on the dimensional weights. I do have another question on Shipping Settings for you.
The Google documentation lists 4 shipping methods that can be used. https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6069284
With regard to the 4th Type of Shipping Method Setup (Create customer shipping rules), could you explain how the option of “Exclude the grouping from shipping” works.

IF I setup a condition of with a shipping_label of “No-UPS” and the shipping rate as “Excluded” selected what does the Merchant Center do for shipping with these products. Are they considered free shipping or is the shipping calculation not considered at all? Please explain how this works. Thanks for your help.

first, you're welcome.

by default, all items are assumed to be shippable
throughout the (registered feed's) target-country.

excluded indicates a geographic area.

excluded -- indicates to google that specific items, matching the exclusion,
cannot be shipped to specific areas; so, should not be shown to users who
are located in those excluded areas.

for example, certain perishable items might have a limited shipping radius.

all other (registered-feed) locations in which the item might
be shown, must match a valid and accurate shipping value --
either exactly correct or an overestimate.

a (free) shipping value is never assumed.

free shipping must be indicated as a zero shipping-price --
either by matching an account-level shipping setting or, as

an override by using a valid per-item shipping attribute value.

shipping information cannot be mentioned anyplace else within a feed.

always check the individual item within the products-tabs,
by clicking on the item's title, to verify shipping information
is being processed properly and matched correctly.
