Google Product Feed Shipping Warnings Frustration

For years this was never a problem, but it seems like as of late Google has been scrutinizing this even more.

My problem is that we sell thousands of items ranging from items that are UPSable to items that ship LTL Freight.  We don't set shipping as an arbitrary % of the price of the item, instead in real time we call on Ground and Freight APIs to determine cost based on all the variables that determine shipping costs.  In terms of ground shipping that would be things like: weight, dimensional weight, origination zip and destination zips and residential vs commercial.  For freight we look at weight, commodity class, origination and destination zips, and commercial vs residential.

For some reason Google does not quote freight, so the only "solution" I could find was to eliminate all freight items from my feed other than those that ship free.  It's not like I can provide accurate costs to Google, because at the time of submission, I have no clue who I would be shipping to.

For ground, I don't think there is a setting for origination zip (not all of our items ship from same zip).  Additionally, cost will vary depending upon whether it is going commercial or residential.

Consequently, I am always running into suspension errors.  It was suggested I just mark up shipping higher via the feed to ensure that landing page cost is always lower than Google cost, but that doesn't sound like a practical or customer-friendly solution.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this problem?

generally, a combination of shipping_label and shipping_weight attributes
with a set of shipping-services to form rate-groups within the account,
is the best likely course -- or, for those products that must use complex
freight for shipping, use campaigns other than shopping for advertising.

some types of items are simply not a good match for shopping-ads --

and puts at risk the entire account if the issues cannot be resolved.

unfortunately, there are no direct contact-numbers to specific specialists.

when contacting google, what sometimes helps, is to immediately clarify that
the issue relates to shopping-ads and the merchant-center and then ask for a
merchant-center-support-specialist.

or, if the content-api-for-shopping is being used, then
the question may be asked in the content-api forum.

yes, google constantly updates their policy-violation detection and may
recheck accounts, submitted data, websites, supply-chains, businesses,
business-models, and business-practices, at any time.

yes, shipping may be either exactly accurate or an overestimate --
if either an exactly accurate or overestimated shipping-cost cannot
be submitted or set within the account, then those items should be
removed to avoid a disapproval or permanent suspension, at any time.

only the lowest shipping-rate is ever displayed, so
if exactly accurate shipping cannot be determined,
then the highest possible shipping a user may pay
should always be submitted or set in the account,
to help avoid a disapproval or suspension.

ship-from and complex shipping may be added using several methods --

for example, for complex ship-from scenarios the details or settings
may be submitted (via google's content-api) and allows for a set of
shipping_label values to be combined with a set of shipping-services
to form multiple rate-groups -- this can certainly be done without the

api but the api may help, depending on the shipping complexities.

for example, accurate shipping_weight and shipping_label attributes
may be assigned to a set of freight-classes, per-item -- then, multiple
shipping-groups may be created within the merchant-center with a

matching set of weight-based tables for each freight-class.

otherwise, this is mainly a peer-to-peer help-forum --
for more details about these or alternative methods,

as applied to a specific account or shipping scenario,
a support-specialist at google may be contacted directly.

that said, there are many other campaign-types and ad-formats,
that do not have such shipping requirements or restrictions and
may be a much better fit for advertising certain types of items.

The only "support specialists" I've talked to couldn't really suggest any high-level solutions other than to jack up rates.  Do you have a contact number I could reach out to for assistance?
