Google Merchant: Handling multiple product variants(small/large size) on a page with different price[ Edited ]
June 2016 - last edited June 2016
An existing site I'm working on currently displays a default price/variant on product pages, but has a drop down where users can select different variants (size/color..etc) which could sometimes cost more/less.
We currently submit feed uploads for each individual variant(all product feeds are on a variant level only), however this has recently caused the non-default variants in the dropdown to become marked as disapproved as they are not immediately visible on the site when it is crawled.
Does anyone know what the best way to handle this would be without having to create a separate page for each product variant?

the typical choices are to either use url-parameters
with a server-side-script to preselect an exact variant --
or, submit only the default variant on the page.
only physical in stock variants should ever be submitted --
however, there is no requirement to submit all variants.
generally, the submitted price must match the single,
displayed price and the default add-to-cart price, on
the link landing-page, at all times.
if multiple supported-variants are submitted, then google also
requires (a) the item_group_id attribute with a proper, identical,
value and (b) at least one supported-variant (detailed-product)
attribute of color, material, pattern or size, with one value that
is unique among all items -- within a variant-group.
