Google Merchant Center Suspended Due To "Landing Page Not Working"

We manage a client in the Fashion industry. Website visitors from different countries are served the right pages via a subdirectory structure. - for visitors from New Zealand - for visitors from Australia - for visitors from Global / US

The correct country path is chosen based on the users location.

Now this causes a unique problem for us, as we have created and uploaded a Product feed in Merchant center for activating Google shopping ads. Even though the feed specifies /nz within the url for the products, the crawler is getting redirected to the URL with /us

As a result, our account has been suspended as the URLs specified in the feed do not work.

Any suggestions or solutions?

Simply remove the IP / GEO redirect script. You can not automatically redirect a user based on location.

If the ad is NZ, than the page needs to be NZ regardless of where you are located.

Hope it helps.

Google has servers worldwide and because of that AdWords and redirects based on IP don't work together well.

A common workaround is to have a drop-down box in the header where people can choose the country they are from, for example "Not from NZ, click here", and then cookie them if they choose it.
