Google Merchant Center Suspended Due To "Landing Page Not Working"

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Hey everyone. My merchant center was suspended a couple of days ago because of a "landing page not working." After communicating with Google support, they looked into it and told me the following:

"I went ahead to get your Merchant Center account reviewed and I could locate that there are no feeds created for the targeted country "Canada" and that is the reason the system is not able to review your Merchant account.   Having said that, I would request you to upload a feed for the targeted country "Canada" so that we can proceed further and get this sorted for you. Below are the steps on how to upload a feed in Merchant Center."

So it seems that the landing pages are fine but the system needs me to have a product feed for Canada. Can I just upload a blank feed for Canada?

a blank feed is not allowed and simply indicates to delete all items --

any items that are missing from a data-feed will simply be deleted;

items are tracked by id.

what is allowed depends mainly on the details and policies of

the targeted-country and landing-page details on the website.

generally, there are two choices with respect to supporting a target-country --

(a) use google's automated-currency-conversion with a multi-country-feed,
that is added by using the primary-feed's settings, in the merchant-center.

google then generates the multi-country-feed automatically --

there is no actual feed-data that is submitted by the merchant.

if the language of the targeted-country does not match the language of
the primary-feed's landing-page, then a supplemental-feed is (also) required,

and must be submitted by the merchant, with human-translated data.

or (b) submit a separate primary-feed per target-country --
only if the landing-pages, on the website, use fixed-prices
in a supported-currency and have human-translated pages

in a supported-language, of the targeted-country.

the website must have separate landing-pages, per country,

with fixed-prices in a supported-currency, and have human

translated pages for the language, of the targeted-country,

before the primary-feed may be created or submitted;
e.g.
http://www.example.com/products/widget?locale=us-en&color=red&size=large
http://www.example.com/products/widget?locale=ca-en&color=red&size=large
http://www.example.com/products/widget?locale=ca-fr&color=rouge&size=grand
or
http://www.example.com/products/widget-red-large
http://www.example.com/ca-en/products/widget-red-large
http://www.example.com/ca-fr/products/widget-rouge-grand

note that automated-currency-conversion or

automated-machine-language-translation are

not allowed on the landing-page, for option (b).

importantly, regardless of which option is chosen, (a) or (b) --
the landing-page details must be identical for all users,
regardless of where the user is physically located and
regardless of user-specific details, such as a browser,
user-agent, device, ip-address, etc.

that said, this is mainly a public, peer-to-peer, community forum --

forum-members cannot look into any submitted data or accounts.

posting, here in public, specific url links to the landing-pages,

and specific screen-captures of the products-feed tab within

the merchant-center, may help to allow other forum-members

to offer more specific suggestions.

otherwise, the best likely course is to simply re-contact

google directly to ask for additional details and guidance.

Thanks Celebird. Do you work for Google? How do you know so much?

Hello again. I have spoken to Google Support again. But they tell me that there are, in fact, a couple of issues. But the suspension is due to slow site speed. They referred me to page speed insights for the page. I was able to compress some images and remove some scripts to speed it up. But how high does the page speed score have to be to get unsuspended? Is this a common reason for being suspended?

first, you're welcome and thank you for the kind words and the update;

google-employees have a google-colored g as their badge in the forums.

yes, a single disapproval or suspension flag may be for multiple issues.

for shopping-ads, google has rather strict policies for a website --
for example, a link landing-page must show identical information
to all users, regardless of the user's physical-location; a website
must be accessible from any and all locations, anyplace in the world;
a website must be able to respond both properly and fast enough to
all google's crawl requests, at all times, etc.

generally, google must be able to crawl the website and landing-pages,
and the response to all google's crawl-requests must be proper and fast
enough to confirm that all the inventory information, within the submitted
product-data, matches the information on the landing-page, at all times
and the website conforms to all other shopping-ad rules and policies --
for example, proper business contact details, return and refund details,
etc. -- or is otherwise a policy violation that may trigger a disapproval,
or a suspension, at any time.

to help with fixing the website-response issue,
consider contacting the hosting-company and
the organization that is currently supporting the
e-commerce system being used on the website.

also, posting the specific website url, here in public, may
allow other forum-members to offer specific suggestions.

note that any one, single, severe policy violation, too many policy violations,
too frequent policy violations over time, or critical issues that are not fixed
in a timely manner, can result in a permanent suspension from the program.

a best-practice is to review all google's rules, policies, and
recommendations, for all submitted-data, submitted images,
types of products being sold, landing-pages, the entire website,
business, business-practices, physical inventory, supply-chains, etc.

You are lucky. Today is day 7 of my suspension.

"landing page not working" and I applied for a review 6 days ago.

Googles seems to dislike germany. The toll free hotline isnt even picking up for anyone in germany calling.

How many weeks did you have to wait for google to re-review your feed?

Mine ist generated dynamically from my server, a resubmission spat out 0 errors...yet I am here waiting for google and there is no way of getting help from them in my country.

The account was down for about a week. I reached out to them multiple times before resolving the issue. My merchant center account had a chat feature that put me in touch with a Google representative in real time, and they spent about an hour with me running tests on the site and diagnosing the issue
