Generic search returns result in merchant feed

I noticed something about search and merchant feed results that has me puzzled. We know the merchant feed is product based not keyword driven. When I search for something like "laser toner" I get back a lot of merchants adds. How would I get in that list? Would I for instance use the terms "laser toner" as part of one of my titles and crank up the budget on that one?

I am just curious as it almost seems like a loop hole in the merchant feed idea.

TIA

Mark

Hello, Mark. Shopping ads don't use keywords, that's true, but the system uses, among other things, product titles and product descriptions to trigger ads. So if you're selling laser toner (for printers and copiers), make sure your product titles are something like Canon XY123 Laser Printer Toner. Then make sure you bid enough and you should get your ads to show.

To add to the replies.

Also make sure to add accurate product identifiers such as brand, gtin and or mpn. Among other attributes it is important to have all required and optional attributes added.

Google does not only use titles (but is the main one) to match search terms, but also other attributes.

Hope it helps.
