GTIN Issue - Product Feed Live

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Until recently one of our advertiser accounts feeds was down due to a polity violation (for a missing attribute GTIN).

The feed is 3400 products, we decided our priority products (600), added a field for GTIN in to the feed and matched up the 600 top priority products. Upon putting this live, all 3400 went live. All products have MPN's and Brand but are missing a value for GTIN.

Can anyone tell me why these will of gone live? is this a glitch? or is it simply taking the brand and MPN as the two attributes, and using the empty GTIN field just to notify it to take brand and MPN?

If anyone has any answers or similar experiences it would be great to know!

Cheers.

Make sure that you have checked the packaging of the product that there are no barcodes. It is a requirement for you to add these values in the GTIN field if they exist.

Google also may require you to add a GTIN value, regardless if you have a brand and mpn. Certain brands require a GTIN.

If you do not have a bar code, then simply do not submit GTIN, MPN and Brand, and set Identifier Exists to no

Hello James,

Are you sure that there are no fields filled for the other (2800) products? What do you see when you download the csv file from the active feed?

Hi Joep,

The fields are entirely empty in my download. No value is showing in the GTIN column (apart from for the 600 products I have added)

Cheers!

I'm unsure if a GTIN exists for all of these, but i'd speculate a majority will have a GTIN. I think this may be a glitch on Googles front for the full feed being put live.

When submitting the feed, you need to make sure all data is accurate before submitting it to Google Merchant Center, as submitting inaccurate data may lead to product suspensions or account suspensions. I'm saying this to make you aware and to avoid of any issues down the line.

1) If you are unsure with the bar codes, then you need to check the products, if you can not submit accurate product identifiers, then do not submit GTIN, MPN and Brand, and submit Identifier Exists to no

2) There is no glitch and is simply a Google requirement, you can find this info by reading the official documentation and linked documentation within the explainer linked in the previous post.

I know this may sound obvious, but I do recommend reading them to avoid any suspensions. Depending on the severity of the violation, a permanent suspension may be triggered.

Hope this helps.
