Error: Internal error when validating when uloading feed in sheets

Hello,

We're having trouble uploading out primairy/product feed. I personally have no experience with Google Merchant Center and our version is in Dutch. So forgive me for any unclarities.

So to upload a product feed I log in to merchants.google.com > products > feeds  and I open (the allready present) Google Spreadsheet.
From the sheet I choose Add-ons > Google Merchant Centre > Validate sheet

This results in an 'Error: Internal error'. Clicking details will reveal 'Error: Internal error'. Not very helpfull. The GMC addon sidebar also shows an error; 'Something went wrong. Try again' (translated from dutch).

Is there something we're doing wrong, are the servers down or is there something with our account?

Thanks for the the help.

(a) the optional validate-sheet-add-on, within google-sheets,
should never be used, or relied upon, for any final validation
of any feed data.

the add-on is mostly a beta/experimental feature; feedback
about the optional-add-on may be given directly to google.

(b) only full-processing -- directly within the merchant-center account --
should be used for final and accurate validation, of sheet-data, or any
feed file data, submitted for shopping-ads.

for example, by selecting *fetch-now*, under the three-button drop-down menu,
within the feed processing-tab, by clicking on the registered primary-feed,
(google-sheet) name, under the products-feed-tab, within the merchant-center:
https://merchants.google.com/mc/products/sources

then, carefully inspect any issues -- directly under
the processing-tab, in the merchant-center-account.

item status and final-attribute details, after processing, may be
seen, by clicking on an item's title, under the products-list-tab:
https://merchants.google.com/mc/items

google will also crawl images and the website for any issue, approximately
24-72 hours after items have been processed -- such website related issues,
that affect items or the account, may be seen under products-diagnostics:

click on any blue-boxes, hover over the issue-icons, click on the numbers
under affected-items, and click on any learn-more links.

Google tech team do not read these forums, to help and have Google resolve this issue, please submit feedback to them explaining your issue. Go to Google Merchant > Top right corner > feedback.

This is a member to member forum, meaning we are not part of Google and with technical issue, there is nothing we can do to help. Therefor submitting feedback is the best likely course to getting this resolved.

just to reiterate, google should be contacted
directly for any such internal technical issues.

even if fixed, the optional validate-sheet-add-on, within google-sheets,
should never, ever, be used, or relied upon, for any final or authoritative
validation of any feed data --

rather, only full-processing, directly within the merchant-center account,
should be used for final and accurate validation, of sheet-data, or any
feed file data, submitted for shopping-ads --

that is, by selecting *fetch-now*, under the three-button drop-down menu,
within the feed processing-tab, by clicking on the registered primary-feed,
(google-sheet) name, under the products-feed-tab, within the merchant-center:
https://merchants.google.com/mc/products/sources

Everything has been working fine for months and now I haven't been able to update my feed for two weeks with the internal error message popping up. Getting very frustrated with this clunky non-friendly platform. Sent feedback on my issue and ... nothing.

if the issue is with the optional add-on, the best likely course is to use the
the standard feed-validation in the merchant-center, not the optional add-on --
to avoid a policy issue related to not submitting updated inventory data.

the optional add-on seems to have very limited support,

does not behave well except in very limited cases, and

is not needed to submit product-data for shopping-ads.

scheduled-fetch and fetch-now, in the merchant-center,

are the more standard methods available for submitting,

processing, and verifying, product (feed) data -- including

google-sheet spreadsheets.

Thank you Celebird!

After adding or changing a product on the sheet ....

1. Go to Merchant Center

2. Click on Feeds

3. Click on the Primary feed not the Google Sheet

4. Click on the 3 dot menu

5. Fetch Now

as i said clunky -.-

first, you're welcome.

yes -- those have been the normal steps to
manually fetch updates for quite some time.

however, more often, a scheduled-fetch is configured, once,
to automatically fetch updates, within a feed file or sheet.

the optional-add-on was likely an attempt at improving the manual steps,
but the optional-feature has simply not been reliable, in most cases --
feedback directly to google is still the best likely course.

currently, fetch-now or a scheduled-fetch, or
both, should likely be used, regardless of any
shortcomings, to help avoid policy issues.

long-term, checking the merchant-center for any

processing issues, even after the optional-add-on

is fixed, is still a best-practice and recommended.
