Disapproved items due to missing / invalid microdata

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

All of my listings have just been disapproved due to missing / invalid microdata for condition and availability. I have checked a large quantity of my landing pages using the Google structured data checking tool and they all appear to conform according to the tool.

Here's an example from my site: http://www.bottomlinemarine.com/prod_cat/P_lowrance-elite-7ti-chartplotter--fishfinder-with-lowhighd...

Neither me nor my website author can find the problem after extensive reading of the Schema and Google merchant help pages.

Oddly when i run 3 of my competitors product landing pages through the checking tool, they appear to fail to show any Schema data whatsoever. Despite this their products are still showing in google shopping.

Here's an example competitor product: https://www.force4.co.uk/lowrance-elite-7-ti-combo-with-totalscan-transducer.html?utm_source=google_...

I've asked for a review by Google but so far nothing has happened. I know this can take 3 days but I'm loosing money so a faster solution would be desirable.

If anyone can offer some pointers I would be very grateful.

(a) for shopping-ads, json-ld may be used and is recommended;
however, the json-ld on the landing-page must be static -- or if
dynamically generated must be resolved via a server-side-script --
never a client-side-script or related mechanism.

with respect to the specific site posted in the forum,
the structured-data looks syntactically correct, but
does not seem to meet shopping-ads requirements --

the data seems to be within client-side script-tags.

(b) structured-data used to either validate product-data submitted

within the merchant-center against the link-landing-pages, or to

support the merchant-center's optional automatic-item-updates

feature, must be both syntactically correct and able to be crawled

by the merchant-center and meet all merchant-center/shopping-ad

related rules and requirements.

generally, shopping-ads require static structured-data or
server-side-script generated structured-data -- regardless
of any structured-data-format, such as json-ld or microdata.

google's structured-data-testing-tool checks only basic syntax --
not shoppping-ad rules, policies, requirements, or recommendations.

(c) automatic-item-updates is a purely optional feature
and may be disabled within the merchant-center-account.

note that disabling the feature requires the primary
submitted data to be in sync with physical inventory
in stock status and the landing-page displayed data,
at all times -- all displayed data must meet all
merchant-center guidelines related to websites

and landing-pages.

that said, this is mainly a peer-to-peer community forum --
forum-members can mainly offer suggestions based on the
information posted here in public.

otherwise, the best likely course would be to simply re-contact google directly.

google is the final arbiter of all such issues.

A product can not get disapproved due to microdata issues. It's not possible.

There will be very likely a different issue, I recommend contacting Google directly by going to Google Merchant Center and ask for help in the top right corner.

It is recommend to choose to call them.

As we can't access your account, we can't provide you with guidance and want to avoid you going on a wild goose chase. Other than saying make sure you follow Google's Policies.

Hope it helps.

I have just spoken to the Uk Google adwords/mechant support team. They say that the disapprovals are due to missing schema availability microdata.

I explained that the an adviser on the forum says that this is not possible but the google representative says that it is definitely the reason.

I'm now wondering if there is a more reliable way of looking at Schema microdata than the official tool? Could someone have a look at the landing page above and see if it the schema data looks correct?

Also as you can see in the picture above the word preemptive is used. I've read the google notes on this but it doesn't really help explain the situation.

I feel like I have reached dead end.

Thank you for the screenshot, this is very strange, this is the first time I have ever seen this. Maybe another expert can give there feedback, but I still recommend contacting Google.

The only thing I could suggest is to change it to html microdata instead of json. Although both are supported it might be due to google merchant's new UI that it has issues detecting it.

Google's new UI has a few changes and it seems not everything is correctly supported.

Thank you for your help. Here is the section of the notes. I wonder if this is a recent addition?

I contacted Google but the representative couldn't offer a solution except that I should recheck the Schema Microdata for availability. I have checked it and it looks fine. It is confusing that the official tool shows the Schema data correctly but Google say it is wrong.

It's a shame that google seem to a have a total monopoly on search engine based shopping as it would be nice to be able to switch to a competitor when it all goes so badly wrong. I suppose that is why monopolies are usually highly regulated and in the end usually forced to break up.Premptive disapproval.JPG

We are using JSON-LD as our content is generated dynamically.

JSON-LD is what google say they prefer in thier notes and is the only microdata that can be used for dynamic content.

It would mean a complete site redesign which my web guy says will take weeks and cost a fortune. He says that dynamic content sites are very common and he can't believe that google would knowingly stop supporting them. It is strange that only me and not my competitors is being penalized.

JSON-LD is the example that google gives in their guide here:

https://developers.google.com/search/docs/guides/intro-structured-data

It is highlighted as the recommended method.

You would think that they would support the recommended option above all others?

It does seem fairly broken.

Does anyone know anybody a Google who could look into this?
