All the videos and resources seem to be out of date. I have creates a shopping campaign, and I am trying to Crete ad groups inside of it. I want to create a n ad group called "widgets" that contains only items from the feed in the "widgets" category.

When I try to create an ad group, I get two choices:

1. Start with one product group with a single bid for all products

2. Create one ad group and generate multiple product groups based on the product attribute you choose

Neither of these does what I want. The video shows that I should be able to choose a category. The video says to" click new ad group" then "click the auto targets tab".

to create a group of one category in a shopping-campaign,
simply use a product-group within the shopping-campaign.

multiple product-groups may be created under one ad-group.

multiple ad-groups are usually only needed for:
(a) assigning ad-group-level negative keywords;
(b) assigning bid modifiers;
(c) assigning specific promotional-text.

at one time, regular-product-listing-ad campaigns used
product-targets; shopping-campaigns use product-groups.

auto-targets were used for regular-product-listing-ad campaigns --
for all items, not already in a target, could be included to set a bid;
shopping-campaigns do not use product-targets or the auto-target.

the new shopping-campaigns use product-groups;
the everything-else product-group serves the same
similar purpose -- all remaining items, not already
in a group, can be included to set a bid.
