simply use a custom-attribute;
e.g.
"customAttributes": [
{
"name": "promotion id",
"type": "text",
"value": "stuff"
}
]

the details depend on which client library is being used.

note that the promotions-feed itself
is currently not supported by the api.

for specific client-library details and any additional
clarification, the content api forum is currently here --

So If I declare the promotion_id as the custom attribute in the Shopping content api feed. Google will take the promotion_id into consideration? The promotion_id needed for the Merchant Promotions. Thanks so much in advance.

Hello,

I am having the same problem...

How do I add a customer attribute to the Google Shopping API?

There are no custom attributes on the CSV we have downloaded from Shopify for the Google Shopping API.

Can i just add an additional column and name it promotion id?

Any help would be much appreciated.

first, this is a rather old thread.

the promotion_id has now been added to the standard google attributes,
both within google's content-api and feed data and should be recognized
via the api or any google-supported feed file format -- and so cannot, or
should not, be added as a custom-attribute.

if a third-party is handling the submitted inventory data
then, the best likely course is to contact the third-party
support directly -- in this particular case, shopify support:
