Can you run product ads without remarketing?

Hi,

I thought it would be an easy option to set up ads which would show products, ideally, filtered products, from my merchant feed.

But from what I can tell, you can only show products in ads if you are using remarketing which seems quite limited.

Can it be done? if so how? it seems like it would be a great way to show of a product range to a wider audience than just to those who got a remarketing tag from a site visit.

Thanks

first, you're welcome.

that sounds correct.

shopping-ads may select the search-network,
or search-network and search-partners, within
the shopping-campaign -- the display-network

was in limited beta awhile ago.

currently, there are no dynamic-display-ads without remarketing --
the information to dynamically fill-in the information is only made
available by using algorithms related to dynamic-remaketing.

html5 and responsive-display image-ads, may be used to similar effect --
these are not created dynamically based on audience behavior, so there
is no need for remarketing.

filtering by audience, completing an ad dynamically based
on a user's behavior, is basically remarketing by definition.

that said, google may be contacted directly for account-specific options.

yes --

shopping-ads and dynamic-remarketing-for-retail-ads are separate.

the merchant-center is used to submit feed data, to populate either
shopping-ads, or dynamic-remarketing-for-retail-ads, or both -- which
are entirely separate destinations, that happen to use the same feed.

there is also dynamic-remarketing for other verticals,
other than retail, that use the ad-account to submit
the feed data, rather than the merchant-center.

both shopping-ads and dynamic-remarking-ads may be filtered --
by simply not submitting the entire set of hand-hand inventory,
or other techniques, such as filtering by attributes in the feed.

shopping-ads do not require dynamic-remarketing, in any form.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I understand that shopping and remarketing are different, I am just surprised you can't run product filled ads in the display network unless you are using a remarketing list and wanted to confirm it definitely isn't possible?

Thanks

Perhaps it will come one day? Google could show products based on their performance in Google Shopping. I definitely think the multi-product format stands out.

Hi

Thanks for the confirmation. I might try and make some html5 ads with static products and see if they get approved.
