Can I combine Multiple Primary Feeds (Manual uploads) into one without disrupting my PLAs?

Hi,

I've uploaded multiple primary feeds (to add new products listed on my store).  Can I combine these feeds into a new individual primary feed without disrupting my existing product listings?

I have not found very clear guidance.  It sounds like I would have to delete all 4 old primary feeds, upload 1 new primary feed, and wait 72 hours for Google to crawl through the combined file.

yes -- the most critical aspect is to thoroughly ensure that
all id values remain the same; an id value must be unique
per physical inventory item and should never, ever, change
once assigned to an item.

if all id values remain the same, there should be no issues.

(a) merge all the items into one primary-feed;
(b) delete all the remaining primary-feeds;

(c) resubmit the merged primary-feed.

yes, google should take about 72-hours for all items to resettle --

if there seems to be any issues, simply verify all items exist in

the primary-feed, no id values have changed, and then resubmit

the one primary-feed.

generally, only one, single, primary-feed is ever needed for all inventory items
for a target-country unless the inventory size grows beyond 100,000 item-offers;
the one primary-feed can handle about 100,000 inventory items.

otherwise, there is no need for multiple primary-feeds for a target-country.

Thank you, Celebird!

Just a few follow-up:

During the 72 hour approval period, will my Product Listing Ads be inactive?  And will I lose my AdWords history by deleting the existing/old Primary feeds?  Product IDs will remain the same.

In the future, when adding new products, do I need to continue to delete and upload a new Primary feed file, or is there less disruptive method without having multiple primary feeds?

first, you're welcome.

if id values remain the same, and no content changes,
then the re-review should be nearly instantaneous, or
may not happen, at all.

if all other feeds are deleted and the one, fully-populated, primary-feed is
immediately resubmitted, there may be some churn, under the product-listings
area, within the merchant-center, as items are processed -- but shopping-ads
should not be disrupted.

never, ever, delete the main primary-feed for a target-country.

normally, the primary-feed should only ever be registered only once --
for all time -- and never, ever, deleted, unless indicted to do so by
someone at google.

for the least disruption, simply use the same primary-feed for all updates --
including additions, changes, deletions, or any re-uploads/resubmits; any

missing item from the feed is considered a delete.

all items are tracked by id.

for an addition, simply
(a) add the new item, with a new id, to the existing primary-feed;
(b) re-upload.

a best-practice is to use a combination of letters and numbers for id; e.g.
abc123

Thanks, Celebird.  That makes more sense.

For final clarification - it sounds like I can delete my main primary-feed(s) for my target country, because I will be immediately submitting a new updated primary feed (combining my existing 4 primary feeds).

in this particular case there are likely two choices --

(a) simply choose any one of the existing primary-feeds to be the
one remaining, main, product-feed and use that one, for all time.

that is, delete all of the existing, current,
feeds for the target-country -- except one.

delete three-out-four existing feeds --

use the one remaining, for all time;

never delete that one remaining feed.

(b) alternatively, a new primary-feed could be registered --
and use that one, for all time -- deleting all (four) existing feeds;
however, that would cause a bit more churn than is necessary.

option (b) would be required in certain use-cases --
for example, if the current feed was a tab-delimited
file but a google-sheet was wanted, or some similar
transition was wanted.
