Branded items with no GITN?

I'm hoping somebody can help me out with this... I'm trying to upload my products to the shopping feed. I sell used apparel/handbags and the items do have a brand but I don't have access to the GITN/MPN (which is required for this category). I know there must be some sort of workaround, because other websites (Ebay, Tradesy, etc) have plenty of items in the shopping feed which they probably don't have all the codes for. If somebody could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it, thanks!!

if the proper, valid, required, global-trade-data exists

then the proper. valid, required, global-trade-data

must be submitted -- otherwise, the item simply

cannot be submitted, at all.

for apparel clothing only a proper brand is required;

for handbags, brand and at least one other valid value --

mpn or gtin -- from the manufacturer -- are required.

if the required data does not currently exist then the

item may be submitted with an identifier_exists and

a value of FALSE

if the data exists but is not submitted then that is

grounds for disapproval or suspension at any time;

invalid or self-assigned data is not allowed.

potential policy violations by others may be reported to google.

If item is not branded and MPN is not provided by manufactured, then just create a custom no yourlself and it will work.

I guess my real question is: where is everybody else FINDING the gtin? I don't mind putting in some extra work but I haven't seen any resources as to how to track that number down if you aren't getting it directly from the manufacturer.

In the example of handbags, I did a search for one that I have in my store and many listings popped up from ebay & tradesy... how are they getting access to that gtin number when their items are used just like mine? Can I find the gtin number anywhere on somebody else's existing google product listing?

custom global-trade-data is not allowed;

the only exception is brand -- if and only

if you are also the brand-manufacturer.

inventing or submitting any self-assigned
global-trade-data (mpn, brand, gtin) is
grounds for disapproval or suspension
by google, at any time.

valid global-trade-data can be assigned
only by manufacturers -- not merchants.

if valid, required, global-trade-data does not exist --

has not been assigned by a brand-manufacturer --

then simply submit identifier_exists FALSE and do

not submit any global-trade-data (mpn, gtin, brand)

for that item.

submitting any self-assigned global-trade-data is

grounds for disapproval or suspension at any time.

a valid gtin is usually stamped directly on the
product by the manufacturer at the factory --
http://www.gs1.org/barcodes/technical/bar_code_types

valid global-trade-data can be assigned only
by a brand-manufacturer -- not merchants.

if valid global-trade-data exists, valid data must be submitted --
if valid global-trade-data exists, but cannot be found or located,
then the item simply cannot be submitted, at all.

if valid global-trade data does not exist then, simply
submit the item with an identifier_exists of FALSE
and do not submit any global-trade-data for that item.

the type of item determines what's required.

handbags -- require a valid brand and
at least one valid gtin or mpn value;
gtin is not required if valid mpn exists.

apparel clothing requires only a valid brand.

typically, either contact the manufacturer or inspect
the product itself to locate valid global-trade-data.

looking on google-shopping may be helpful in finding global-trade-data --

but be cautious, since finding an exact match for an exact product online

typically cannot be verified; if possible, verify the information with the

brand-manufacturer or inspect the global-trade-data on the item itself.

currently, there is no way for merchants to verify
that other merchants have submitted valid data --
only a person at google can look into an account's
or (marketplace) sub-account's data-feed details;

potential violations may be reported to google.

submitting any inaccurate or invalid global-trade-data
or an inappropriate identifier_exists value of FALSE is
grounds for disapproval or suspension at any time.
