Adding same product under two product groups, within the same ad group for Local Inventory Ads

I am setting up Local Inventory Ads and had a question on using the same product (ItemID) under multiple product groups in a given ad group. Per this article:

Each product can appear in only one biddable product group per ad group. You can also exclude a product from appearing in a product group entirely by using inventory filters

However, this does not seem to the case when setting up Local Inventory Ads and using Channel and Channel Exclusivity filters. When I use Channel, my inventory is broken down into (1) Local Stores and (2) Online. But when I further break it down using Channel Exclusivity, I can sub-divide Local Stores into (a) Multi-channel and (b) Single-channel. Similarly, Online can be broken down into (a) Multi-channel and (b) Single-channel, to give a tree structure similar to the one attached.

In my example, multi-channel products are appearing under two product groups, with potentially separate bids. Does anyone know if the constraint mentioned above has been relaxed for Local?

 Hi there,

Thanks for posting to the Community! We're checking with a product specialist for you on this. I'll follow up once I have more details.

I've heard back from the technical team on this, and they said that it is indeed possible to bid differently on the same item ID if you are using Local Inventory Ads. When you use online shopping ads and local inventory ads, an item ID shows up as two entities. One with a "Channel is Online" and the other with "Channel is Local."

When you use an inventory filter (Channel) to split product groups, you are allowed to bid differently for the same item ID.

The Help Center article is correct for advertisers using Shopping ads, but this is still an edge case since Local Inventory Ads are still relatively new.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I have one more question. For a multi-channel ad, if the click if on the online portion, are CPCs calculated using bid for channel = online and if the click is on the local, are CPCs are calculated using bid for channel = offline.
