Targeting AdWords Campaigns with a Cross Domain Redirect Test

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to run a A/B test through Google Optimize for my PPC activity to test two site designs. So 50/50 split between a.com and b.com. I think I have read that query parameters follow you across domains but can any of you help confirm if AdWords tracking is unaffected by running such a test?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

You need to do a "Redirect experiment" and yes, in that case any query parameters are "merged" which means that if the variant URL has any parameters these will override what the user currently has, but any parameters not in the variant URL will stay as is.

Go on an try out things: make a draft experiment and use the "preview" functionality to double check that things work as expected.

You don't have to test just the variant URL, paste or type any url in the preview tab including ones with more parameters to double check that things work as expected.
