using the v3 API, this address returns

The specified address cannot be located.
        "address":{
            "postalCode":"CW12 1LJ",
            "country":"GB",
            "locality":"Cheshire",
            "subLocality":"Congleton",
            "addressLines":[
                "Unit A2",
                "Congleton Retail Park",
                "Viking Way"
            ]
        }

 If 'Congleton Retail Park' is taken out it will work.

The address is accepted in the GMB console.

What is the address format for the API?

Thank you.

Hi @Andrew M,

When you create a new location via the Google My Business API and if you are certain that the address you entered is up to date and contains no extraneous information, and you are still getting the error with the message "The specified address cannot be located." that typically happens when the system cannot geocode the specified address. You can fix this geocode error by dropping a pin for your business location through the Google My Business UI or providing Lat/Lng on location creation.

Thanks,

The Google My Business API team

So with the API, if address can not be found, it will not just use the Lat and Long?

Do I have to send again, but without the address properties?

Hi @Andrew M,

No, if the system cannot geocode the specified address you can fix this geocode error by providing Lat/Lng on location creation. Did you use the Lat/Lng when you were trying to create a new location in your code via the Google My Business API?

Thanks,

For UK addresses, getting the following error messages:
 - Sub-localities aren't used in GB

 - Administrative areas aren't used in GB

Has 'subLocality' recently been removed for GB?

How would you recommend storing Town and City County (see sample address above)?

Hi @Andrew M,

The address formats can vary widely by country, so all fields may not be used for every location. Depending on the country, some fields will be required, optional, or not allowed.

I suggest you checkout this article for more information about address format.

Thanks,

Hi Andrew,

We've did quite some engineering fixes, because the Google API suddenly stopped using the admin areas in April for a lot of EU countries. As since last month, the admin areas are mandatory again.
