google analytics with adwords not working. Urgent!

Hello,

We recently started using google analytics and are now integrating google adwords.

We get the following error in Analytics Notifications.

"The Ad Destination URL https://www.emersonecologics.com/thorneequivalents from the AdWords account xxxxxxxxxxxx has accrued a significant number of clicks but a lower-than-expected number of corresponding sessions because the page is dropping or altering the gclid parameter inserted by Google. Check the web server's redirect logic or its use of a URL rewrite engine to ensure the gclid parameter is preserved.

Google Tag Assistant Recordings can help you ensure that your website is properly accepting the gclid parameter."

We do use an iis url rewrite, which has append querystring set to true. Below is an image of the iis rule.

I'am using google tag assistant to troubleshot, below is a screenshot some of the data.

I'am not seeing any errors, any ideas?

Hi Gohar,

I visited your page and added a test id to your URL:
https://www.emersonecologics.com/thorneequivalents?gclid=xxxxxxxxx
I got redirected to https://www.emersonecologics.com/Default.aspx
You need to make changes to your server settings to allow the gclid tag to be appended to your URLs.
Hope this helps.

Hi Arnold,

I do have appended querystring checked. That is strange.

Hi Gohar,

The problem is that the page is not accessible with the query string appended. You need to make sure that it is accessible with and without the gclid parameter.

Hi Arnold,

Thanks for the reply!

So in google ads we have the url set to https://www.emersonecologics.com/thorneequivalents.
Now as per my understand, when someone clicks on that add, google will redirect that user to that page and insert the gclid into the querystring.

So what happens now is when google tries to insert its querystring, its removing our querystring(?cpid=887789). For example, users will see the following friendly url /thorneequivalents. I did some debugging, and the request also contains a rawurl, which is /thorneequivalents?cpid=887789.

I went back to Marketing and told them to use https://www.emersonecologics.com/thorneequivalents?cpid=887789
in the ads campaign in google adwords.
The idea would be that google would just append (https://www.emersonecologics.com/thorneequivalents?cpid=887789&gclid=sadas3432) to that urls querystring instead of overwriting it.

Regards,
Gohar
